Although Habana, JdV, Joost,  Fourie du Preez, Schalk and the Beast also have strong claims.

This was certainly written by a New Zealander, and one with a regional bias within New Zealand.
Beudean Barrat is probably better than Carlos Spencer, as was Dan Carter
TJ Perana is rarely even a first-choice All Black. George Gregan, Joost and Just Marshall were much better.

Rupeni was good, but he did not last as long as Habana

Marx probably the best hooker ever, at least he was before 2019.
Vermuelen vs Read is close. Although Bob Skinstad was good for a while.

Matfield is in many other all time teams Wanker....haven’t seen Dud in any of them yet, despite his token player award.

I also noted the TJ Perana (sic) selection Shark....hahaha....funny I always thought the Peranas were from Amazonia!

And imagine choosing Owen Finegan, the thug’s thug.

Well seeing that we've only won 3 in 25 years, one or two players seems fair ............. I'll definitely include Bismark & Habana . .

Hahahahaha even ou Redrooi could pick a better side!!

I see nz are still hoping to fool us into picking another fop like wee matfiled (105kg) at lock.

I am so pleased Rassie had the sense to avoid such monumental stupidity and pick real locks for his RWC squad. Having TWO  class locks certainly helped us get traditional Bok forward dominance as did DuToit and Vermuelen. Brutal loosie.

Yes Rassie picked the power pack long advocated Beeno and of course reaped the benefits.

Conversely wee matfiled wrecked out tight five for a decade.

NEVER AGAIN OAKS! NEVER AGAIN.

“ I am so pleased Rassie had the sense to avoid such monumental stupidity and pick real locks for his RWC squad. ” If Matfield was 30-35 years old, Rassie would have picked him at the drop of a hat.

Dream on Windpomp your fantasies are a hoot.

Always remember the words of the true great who carried wee matfiled - Victor doesn't always play in the backline.

Bwhahahahaha says it all.

And Dud doesn’t always play on the left wing.....hahaha....says it all and is much closer to the truth. Mostert who played a key role in our WC win is a Matfield type....not the brilliant  athlete Victor was but similar. Erasmus would have picked Matfield for sure.

Mostert despite being outgunned at lock played with huge heart and deserves credit for that. He had a big engine and got through a lot of work.He did not avoid the hard encounters.

Wee matfield the show pony avoided the hard stuff as much as possible stuffing up the backline and decimating the tight five.

No Rassie is too smart to be taken in by the con artist wee matfield.

NEVER again. NEVER means NEVER.

Why not Herr Sitzsack? He had no trouble selecting the plodding oaf that was Lood. A lumbering, slow-limbed non-entity with the endurance of a wheezy old man. The tackle radius of a jaffa cake. No, give me Mostert and prime Victor (even 60% of Victor's best) over the pretenders any day of the week. Lood and Steph, the totem pole and the revolving door. What a duo. I miss the laughs I had reading the Church of Steph defend their Übermensch

This is the madness coming through,   Matfield by 2007 was potentially a candidate,  but faded out badly by 2011 and was a joke in 2014 and 2015.  Erasmuis would NEVER have picked Matfield on his form in 2014 and 2015 - that one can leave to the coach more known for his firing by Stade Francais,

Mostert failed totally -

*  in setting up driving mauls from line-outs;

*  in line-outs against the AB's in both the RC and WC games against the AB's last year;

*  and was not use for line-out jumping in the RC match against Argentina and was dropped from the starting squad against stronger teams in the WC because of line-out defficiency; and

*  and was a disaster in open field tackling with backline players just running over him in games.

There was no chance that Mostert will make the squad in future again - like Matfield he is physically deficient as a lock,   De Jager is a very good lock - which Mostert is not,   There are other physically strong enough locks on the horizon - which will make Mostert non-selectable,

As to the all-time great Pieter-Steph du Toit the world experts all rate him extremely highly - the two site idiots does not,  What does that tell you about the two morons on site?   LMAO

Welcome back to Organhuffer but an inauspicious start.

Wee matfiled fooled many casual observers but not those who looked closer and like Beeno "know a good lock when he sees one".

Maybe they chose Matfield because he use to pinch so many of their balls come line out time that they Paddy O brien persuaded to change the laws around kicking for touch and throw ins
