I tell you where.............at 13 where he belongs, instead of having a 87kg pretender trying to do the job at the highest level. Good call by Meyer for a change.

Swami.....you are vindicating your call for Taute at 13, because a coach who you claim can't make any correct decisions put him there and largely because he wants to keep a player you say shouldn't even be in the squad, at 15. Can you spot the irony?

Well if its a choice between Kirchner and de Jongh in my starting side, Kirchner walks it. Kirchner I can live with, de Jongh I cant. I like Kirchner, but Lambie at 15 is better. Kirchner is up to test rugby and has actually been good this year. de Jongh is not up to test rugby and would NEVER make my squad - spot the difference, irony has nothing to do with it.

Meyer has Taute where he belongs, Lambie should have been at 15 with Jantjies at 10 - that would have been my call. Meyer has got one of those calls right

Meyer only just announced a few days ago that Taute was only going to be considered as a fullback, unless in an emergency to cover center.

Meyer seems to have back tracked on this- not due to the emergency at center, instead he feels that Kirchners kicking from fullback is required.

Shark - or maybe it was complete rubbish that Meyer said those words re Taute, given he played 13 for Meyer in the last 2 tests and why then would he suddenly move him to 15, given Kirchner has been solid there all year.

I reckon Kirchner was always going to be at 15 and Taute at 13

Either the reports from the journalist was inaccurate, and Meyer did not say that Taute should be considered as a fullback for the tour, or he thinks that Kirchner is needed for his kicking ability from the back.

Although I was surprised that Kirchner would have been dropped based on Meyers selection policy to date. Also Kirchner has been one of the few Bull players to have actually played well. I never rated Kirchner but he has exceeded my expectations, albeit I still do not think he should be the top choice.

I reckon that the reports were way off track. I think Kirchner is far better than some make him out to be and agreed he has been good all year. Why would Meyer drop him and why would he shift Taute given he had one good test and one average test at 13 - continuity dictates that Taute had to stay at 13 and Kirchner at 15, plus de Jongh size is a concern at test level - Meyer knows this

Anybody in the know said that Taute himself said he prefers to play at full back - he clearly said that and he is going to play in that position in future.   I view the whole issue differently.

Meyer will not play Taute at full back in a test - because he has not played at full back for the past year on any level,   Even though Taute is in the squad as a full back - for the reason mentioned he would only have played Taute at full back coming from the bench.    Once Taute has establisjed himself as the Stormers full back successfully he will become the top full back choice.

In the meantime Meyer must have found out that there is indeed a center crisis and that stemmed from his selection of the squad.   On review he must have realised that he cannot possibly play De Jongh in the starting line-up (he has far too many negatives) and there was consequently a serious problem at center.   Thia problem is further complicated by the recent injury to De Villiers and the complications that can result from a further injury,

Meyer consequently was in a jam - once he decided that De Jongh does not measure up to starting line up selection - he had no choice but to move Taute to that position.   That left him with a problem as to who he would put on the bench.   His choice for that  was completely limited and he had the choice between two light weight players - namely Mapoe and De Jongh.   Even though neither should have been in the sqaud - he decided on De Jongh.   I will lay a bet - and that is that unless Taute is injured we will not see De Jongh on the field of play on Saturday.

To counter the issue of a potential injury to De Villiers - he put Morne Steyn on the bench to cover the flyhalf 12 and 15 positions.

Silky Hands should never ever have been  in the squad and he will not be utilized at all on the tour.

Taute never said he preferred fullback, he said he would prefer to be considered at fullback for the Stormers as he saw this as the only opening for him to start for the Stormers.

If Coetzee had any brains he would play Taute at 13 for the Stormers

Sorry - but in this case bullshit baffles brains.   Taute clearly gave his preference for playing at full back and he also gave his reasons for that decision.  The reasons had EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ATTACKING PLAY FROM FULL BACK - nothing with your own deduction that he wanted to be in the starting line up.

Meyer and Coetzee clearly stated that they accepted that and he is in the squad as a full back - not a center.   Coetzee also said clearly that the Stormers will utilize him as a full back.   Why don't you accept that situation?

Crap he never said anything of the sort, he was indicating his strengths at 15, with a view to being considered there for the Stormers. No 21 year old would be stupid enough to tell his provincial and national coach that he prefers a certain position and only wants to be considered in a certain position.

He never said any of this, he only said he would prefer to be considered at fullback for the Stormers - he has NEVER said he prefers fullback

I have finally given up on the English language.   I do not undestand the following at all:-

"he only said he would prefer to be considered at fullback for the Stormers - he has NEVER said he prefers fullback "

Is that lawyers speak or what?  He prefers - yet he does not prefer.   I am totally lost insofar that one is concerned.

On the funny side of life I want to relate a short story.   My Grandmother - who was 14 years old at the time of the Anglo-Boer War and lost a number of relatives in the War - was a teacher in her youth.   She one day called in my brother and myself and said she wants to teach us to speak English.   Rather surrprised about it (even today virtually nobody in the area speaks English - the only language of the area is Afrkaans)  we were totally surprised and asked her why she wanted us to speak English.   Her response was a classic:  "You must know what your enemies think of you".   LOL
