Opinion Poll on Springboks

News 24 is running a poll on the Springboks - the question being as follows:-
So you think the Springboks will bounce back?
The responses were thus far as follows:-
Yes the loss was a wake-up call            =    8 409 votes (35,87%)No our squads not good enough            =     7 222 votes (30,81%)Maybe, but they are up against it now =    7 810 votes (33,32%)   Only just over a third believes a come-back is possible, just under a thirds says the squad is too weak and just about a third is not at al sue about the potential for a come-back.
Not good enough figures for Meyer to be comfortable about the outlook of the general public on that one.

I don't think we have a sniff of winning the cup, but I reckon we'll still make it out of the pool stages, but get knocked out in the quarters.

Why should Meyer need to be comfortable about the outlook of the general public? It's down to him and the squad to sort things out. Public opinion counts for nothing.

Ward, it is all about results when it comes to a coaches popularity. Nothing else matters! All coaches know this, and can't feel sorry for themselves when their fans turn on them for a steady decline in their teams performance.  

Our World Cup is far from over. The pessimism is overstated - why are Bok fans so fickle? We got 2 bonus points from that loss. 
Boks should be motivated like never before. I believe they will respond and this was the catalyst that forges a team that could take this World Cup.

Saff - of course we should have beaten Japan - the loss was embarrassing. But its not the end of our world cup - not even close. These things happen sometimes but we didn't all of a sudden become a mid tier rugby team.
At home in '95 Canada beat us in every way except on the scoreboard, then there was the fight and the team seemed to really unite.

Bullshit the writing has been on the wall for the past 18 months...where we have only won 5 of our 13 major tests and slipped to 5th in the rankings.

 Oimatey a bounce back to get us into the playoffs will not be a surprise.Winning the world cup - well its difficult to see that happening right now.
The game against the Samaoners will tell what is still there. 

CC - we had a similarly poor run up to the 2007 World Cup, it didn't matter then and I have a feeling it won't matter now. I expect a Bok team ready to burn the place down on Saturday and I believe we have far too much talent and pride not to whip the rest of this pool and create some serious momentum for the knock-out stages.

Yes Beeno - agreed. Samoan game will be a true test in every sense. The Boks will put life and limb on the line - I can't see them responding in any other way.
We'll come out of this stronger, tougher and better.

Matey how dare you spoil the  doom and gloom. It's so much fun to beat up on the Boks when it's more important for a poster to be right, than for the Boks to win. I agree we will win big in our remaining pool matches. And if we get past Oz...lookout.

All this moaning about a game our guys never took seriously. We should never have lost, but we just couldn't get the intensity going. Actually the Boks have never beaten up on the minnows like Oz and NZ....we always seem to give these teams a chance. It's not professional, but human in a way.

Once Willie Leroux is back and FDP plays himself back into form our backline will be transformed. With FDP at 9 I am sure both Pollard and Lambie will play better. We also need Delande back at 12. If they are going to keep Jean in the team then his only option is 13. Delande is one of the form players in world rugby.
