I would like to see how the following Sprinbok players - who was out of form in 2012 - perform in the Super Series in 2013:-

*   Taute - however, this time around at full back

*   De Jongh - He did play in the Scotland test - did he not?   Went AWOL in the English test

*   Engelbrecht - seriously deficient on CC level - but what will be the magnitude of his disasters this coming series - total or just normal;

*   Francois Steyn - could do with a bit less lard and not crashballing all the time

*   Morne Steyn - hopeless case I believe

*   Jantjies - 0ne can only hope for the impossible - can we not?

*   Hougaard - will he stop thinking about how great he is and start thinking about playing rugby?

And then we have the return of the long-termed injury cases - Burger and Smith

Will 2013 be the Year of the Rugby Miracles or the Year of the Final Flops insofar as the abovementioned players are concerned.

Mike firstly Taute was not out of form and performed credibly at center and could have been persevered with but for the fact he is a better fullback and that is where he wants to play - an important factor.

De Jongh is too quiet most of the time and needs to improve his distribution. He will have a better chance to shine this year in a more attack minded Stormers.  As was noted, by Sharkbok I think, he needs to be put into space and then he can be lethal. I suspect he could make a very good wing but doubt that will ever be tried.

JJ was learning his trade at center but I think he makes a better wing where defending is a bit easier. Good young player this.

Frans Steyn just needs to get fit and his mind right and he is a great. Chances are high he will feature this year and his combination with Jordaan could be a star turn. Frans must just get some offloads going to the gasman and its tickets for the opposition.

Morne will come back to being the fine flyhalf he has always been -apart from 2012 where his goal kicking imploded and cost the Boks the Rugby Championship. It is a fact that Morne kicking normally would have ment the trophy was ours. So no nonsensical bleating from the kiwi bird brains please!

Hougaard CAN play wing - no question about that. Mindless oaks forget that the Bok backline is disfunctional to a large degree and all players individual performances are effected negatively (Much like the 2012 Stormers). Can Hougie however get the fluidity needed at scrumhalf. He has serious competition emmerging from Kockott and Reinach etc.

If Burger is over his illnes he should make it back into the Bok framework. I have less hope for the older Juan Smith. Never in any event as good as Burger although a fine player.

Johan Sadie i sanother who might resurrect hi scareer with the Cheetahs- we shall see. Another is Coenie -is that injury healed?

Hope this gets you on the right track Mike.

Beeno

Sorry - it does not help to make general statements like yours.   I want to see credible performance over a number of matches to see whether the playes mentioned have shown improvement.   I suspect that some of the players should never have been in the team - eg Engelbrecht and De Jongh, the latter based on his poor Super 15 in 2012.

Whether the playes listed can imrpve - would to my mind be the acid test.   If they fail - they should be left on the level they can perform creditably.

As to Taute - he did not really show anything much at center.   Maybe I am a bit harsh when I said he failed - but he is a top class fullback -  and to my mind the experiment to play him at center was detrimental to his playing career.   This guy is a full bck - not a center - and I must say I had high expectations of him when he was selected and somewhat disappointed in the result.   I will not have that problem with him as full back - I predict he will be the next Springbok full back.

I do not think Morne Steyn is in the selection race anymore - but hope that his last season forthe Bulls is successful.

De Jongh is not physically strong enough to make any impact at center - and I cannot see how he can be successful in that position.

I must agree with Clevermike on various comments.

Taute is not a center and should be played where he's comfortable. He is a class act and belongs at 15. I also rate him as the next Bok full back.

De Jongh is not for me. Too damn small and will struggle against the bigger centers that seem to have come to the fore. Wales' boys will run right over the top of him and not even notice.

Morne is as far as I'm concerned done and dusted. I never thought much of him in any case. He helped us out when we were in need but the time has come to bring the real talented players in.

I expected a lot more from Sadie and hope he'll shine this season. He is a talent no doubt.

I dispize Hougaard. He has no talent at all. A scrummie needs a solid a kicking game and this chump blunders as far he goes.  He struggles to pass to his right and wastes time by turning around giving the opposition the headsup. As far as I'm concerned he should be sent to Robin Island and incaserated there for life. A bit harsh I know ... just can't help myself with this a$$.

Comments not needed at all - you built dreams about most of them and reality hits hard - not so.   Uninformed maybe - but definitely realistic and not looked at with tinted imagination.

Mike given your rugby knowledge or should I say lack thereof, why do you think you are well placed to comment on players form - I'm guessing your take has no prejudice against players involved - let me guess, Jantjies name is on your list, oh and Taute wow - what a laugh

Get it into your head - Taute is a star full back and a half-baked center.    I would love to see how he rubs your nose in that one.

Jantjies - everybody but you have seen this one in reality and virtually nobody like what they saw.   The Soweto test removed the last of the credibility this over-hyped player - G Rich has a lot to answer for - may have hd with some.   Yes it is a joke - the mere fact that some people refuse to see the real Jantjies.

Wrong Mickey, as Mitchell said, Taute is a good fullback but has the makings of a great centre. Taute is a good fullback, so I expect him to be good there.

The only nose rubbing that will take place is yours and Jantjies will be doing the rubbing.

As for Gavin Rich, I know Gav well, have stayed at his place in CT and lets just say he knows a little more about rugby than you do, he makes a living out of the art.

Mitchell was wrong in the Taute case and the file is closed - with the full back file in full glory open for all of us to see.

Earl Silky Hands ls a bad joke - so so chance that any nose-rubbing wil result from his performances.

I think I'll take Mitchell's opinion over your ignorance. One would swear the way you are carrying on that Taute will never play centre again - ignorance is bliss they say

Believe me you did not win the Get in Saffex Bad Books Stakes.   Two days is quick - but not quick enough.

Saffex is in real life a nice guy - but my only suggestion is - smile when you read some of his skyscrapers and fight back.   The discussion thereafter is most entertaining.

Its bloody hot here - must leave and walk that almighty distance of 20 meters to the swimming pool - will be back soon.

Huh?? Exposure?? What are you talking about, chump?

Wannabe?? Dreamer??? Achieving stuff all??

Speak english, man.

Don't tell me that's your best attempt at putting me in my place??

Surely you can do a little better than that ... hmmm?

Stop crying like a little baby man.

Once you've calmed yourself you can come an apologize!!

Per Mike - "I would like to see how the following Sprinbok players - who was out of form in 2012 - perform in the Super Series in 2013"

Please consider my response as it relates mainly to the Super 15 which was where your post was aimed at. You suddenly jump to who should be playing for the Boks.

Mike as the season has not yet begun your wanting to see credible performanmces is fine but obviously we are assessing things as we see it now and what we suspect will be the case.

As to snapster one wonder what is eating him up. He snaps away at all concerned except his beleoved rooitwit.

However I think I have the answer. Snapster is a lawyer of sorts. Divorce lawyer? Well he loves to argue and insult his court opponents (cant think they wont run circls around him though) so divorce lawyer is a great job for him. It helps him get it out of hissystm so to speak.

However there is a problem. Ou snapster thinks so much about rugby he has no legal clients and hence no outlet for his cantankerous ways.So what is the solution. Well he should take up coaching full time. A girls under 16 side would suit him fine!

Never take him seriously or be too offended.

Aaaah … so that’s what the “vloermoer” is all about. I’m pi$$ing on your parade and you’ve noticed my superior intellect and realized that you can’t compete.

Right?

Thought so!!

Are you stupid, Saffy?

Can’t keep up, perhaps??

Hmmmmmmmm??

Did your parents not have the right breeding to bestow upon you a decent intellect?

Were you forced as a young one to make do with what they gave you ... hey?

It  must have been tough.

Thing is, too much inbreeding dilutes the bloodline and I guess what you see in the mirror is the result of it all.

I feel  for you, man, and will take it into consideration the next time we chat.

Ok??

Please calm down - Saffex is a nice guy with weird ideas about rugby and a set number of designations for members - stupid is the mildest of his insults,   I would not want to see total war  between the two of you - just differences of opinion on issues.   That is a hard one - Saffex can be very persistent and he never changes his small mind - even when mediocrity hit him in the face.

I have nothing against Stupid Dave.

His brain is short and fat after all and he can't help himself.

He has accused me of being ... Denise.

I presume this is a poster on the board. Or use to be ... right?

Much like Jalapeno but still under cover right??
