overall thought of the small tournament

first off great to see the pattern that is on display. the speed of the ruck recycling and hand speed of the back line is really picked up quite a lot. the backline has much more penetration and the willie le roux has injected but the much needed attacking steel that we lack for the past 10 years to be fair at the back. really hope meyer give him a run at the first choice in the castle champs. support play from the boks in terms of off the ball running has been also quite a bit better but we the reall test will be the walies and AB....but there has been progression at least in terms of pattern.

Louw had a great tournament but still needs to show if he is the man for our breakdown as the real teams that focus and play towards that area is still waiting for us and the likes of hooper mccheat, pocock and others will be licking there lips for a go at oour rucks. that will be louws real test in my view.

all in all great idea and tournament hope saru sticks to this for future.

Agree a few small changes needed though like Spies gone and Pienaar gone.

How good was Morne's tackling against Samoa? I have never seen him tackle like that

i agree bok the guys played well. the competition was tough but the real tests of meyer will come in the castle champs. from what we have seen in terms of the type of rugby that is being played we are at least going out there and trying to play rugby at least

i agree with you mike......players like steyn ext has not been at his best for quite a while so i am not sure if that was due to coaching or the style but he would need to do some soul searching. he has the ablity that we know but there is a something not quite right with him. in terms of morne he has taken a step up from how he played last year but i am not sure he is the best. players like goosen and lambie should really be where we focus on. they are the real future for our rugby and have quite a bit more skills than morne. if goosen can stay injury free he will become a bok legend.

your lose trio looks like the right mix but players like coetzee and alberts had quite a bit of rugby since last year and much like jannie it seems they are burned out and in need of proper rest. alberts mobilty has always been a issue but if you pick your combos right one can really just make use of alberts as a primary ball cariier like he is meant to be used for. a player like spies is really nor here not there and needs to do some soul searching on how he wants to play

Yep Mike provided Vermuelen is really fit when he comes back that is a good selection as a loose trio.

Slightly more physical would be Louw, Arno Botha and Vermuelen.

You could also have Louw, Arno and Lappies. Nice and mobile and physicality not too bad. Like this loose trio given a chance on a highveldt ground.

Totally physical would be Louw, Vermuelen and Alberts - the loose trio which did the trick againt England and on the NH tour.

Hopefully Elstadt will have a good injury free run and show he is worthy of higher honours.

Morne is doing fine but every now and then he stutters with his goal kicking which is a worry.  We cant afford to throw away tests with bad goal kicking. 

vermeulen and alberts offers the same ablities so picking both of them might not be a smart move where as lappies give a pack more range in terms of mobility....vermeulen is a excellent ball carrier really is a great asset to have but the balance needs to be right.
