There has seemingly been huge shock at the Boks results this year. And certainly losing at home to Ireland and away to the Bargies was disappointing. But not as disappointing as possibly getting whitewashed by Oz. To me this is the biggest test of the year.....a test that can reduce the Boks to paper tigers....or launch us into a better year end tour.

The biggest change in our play this year is how completely we have given up our traditional strengths in scrum, lineout and maul....and also in the backline clashes.  Put too many small chaps out there and we roll the dice on the  Aussie match. We have never beaten these chaps by outrunning them...we have overpowered them.

And that's exactly what the Poms did. They destroyed the Aussie scrum....virtually eliminating all the Aussie looseheads. And Vunipola ran over guys like Hooper taking away programmed fetching.
It's late in the day to discover our traditional strengths and we certainly aren't going to be as dominating in previous years given we have been trying to play like Lions at test level. But as Coetzee is weighing his changes he would do well to  look for and demand a whole lot more physicality.
Or we can bet on Goosen outplaying Folau in space.....time to get real.

Well ... let's power up then!!
And who exactly did you have in mind?
Alberts? Victor? Morne? Schalk? How about Pienaar and Fat Fransie? I'm sure Jannie Du Plessis is available.
Please give us your "powered up" team for the coming test.

The Springboks have already lost any chance of winning the Rugby Championship which itself is becoming a jaded and predictable tournament . . . and here's our resident rugby noob saying next weekend's go-through-the-motions boreathon against an equally inept Wallabies side is the "biggest test match of the year"!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!

At least Moffie adds some humour to the board . . . even if it's unintentional.

The Aussies won it last year so not always that predictable at least .The Aussies are already talking themselves up for a win at Eden Park [ doesnt take much for them to bounce back ! ] ,Despite not being able to win there for 30 years even with their best ever team led by Eales and co.I honestly think you guys will roll the Aussies at home ,I dont think the ABs winning in SA is a done deal either it always worries me when we face the Boks .

I really differ from Mozart here.  The main problems here had nothing to do with the Tight 5 of the Springboks – even though the props need serious attention due to injuries,   The problem really was in the backline where –

*     the loosies were a seriously defective combination;

*     Jantjies was defective and De Klerk not as effective  as he used to be;

*     De Jongh has no ability to carry and pass balls and was totally ineffective.

Mozart’s lamenting about traditional rugby is a serious joke in bad taste.   What is in his book is traditional rugby?    That remains a serious question and he has failed to come up with a logical answer for years now.

However, I also to an extent  differ  from what Rooinek wrote.   For Coetzee as coach it has been going downhill at a fast rate and another loss may be fatal for him.   Coetzee has  to get a win against the Aussies and show some improvement against the AB’s otherwise he can go back to Japan sooner than he thinks.   That may be a good thing though – he clearly is not up to standard and clueless  about rugby as well, .

I don't think you have much to be worried about.
To lose to us after the thumping you just dished out isn't realistic.
We can be thankful that it took you 30 minutes to warm up. Had you started off quickly we could easily have had 70 pts put over us.

What in your book is traditional rugby?   You are still not thinking logically - one of our main problem was the LOOSIE Combination.

So the three discredited mopes have asserted
1 The Aussie home test is not the most important of the campaign.
2 Our only options to power up the team are retired Boks
3 The tight 5 totally determine the power coefficient of a team.
This from the three geniuses who said we only need to get rid of our veterans to be world beaters.....every post they make is dripping with egg.

Maybe so CC but old rivalries and traditions die hard .Like most NZ supporters I still have a great deal of respect for the Boks and SA rugby .The great Jockey Lester Piggott was once asked what Its like to ride a fast race horse " much the same as a slow horse " he replied .When pressed he explained how even at the end of a race the difference between the winner and loser might only be a handful of yards ,an almost imperceptible  difference in speed over a race .The difference was that a champion will always dig deep for that tiny bit extra to get it over the line .Same for the top rugby teams at times its only a matter of millimeters between winning and losing and morale can cover for all sorts of faults .

WD it's a measure of our decline that NZ isn't the most important test.....but it isn't. If we fail against NZ at home it's business as usual for the last 20 years. Nothing changes if we lose against NZ.
But lose at home against Oz and it confirms we have slipped one more notch in the pecking order. Good Bok teams and bad we have generally been able to beat Oz at home. Are these newbies so bad that we are now going to be beaten by Oz at home? That is the question.

My understanding of traditional Bok rugby is an excellent set piece ,powerful forwards slowing and strangling the opposition all backed by long range snipers .The set piece was good against NZ ,Marx was a bit wonky at first but it was his debut so understandable .This incarnation seems to be neither fish nor fowl at the moment .

Congrats to all of you for your dogged loyalty to fixing the Boks.To me it seems like you are all going round in circles. It does not matter which team takes the field, under the current structure (ANC, Coach, selection requirements, game plan, basic skills and watered down rugby gene pool) they will loose.
All of these posts are in vain and completely futile. The proud Springbok is dead. It will not and can not be fixed.
There may be the odd lucky win against the top 4 but do not be fooled luck is all it will be.
More to the point is who to support from here on out.

Yep our WC ride last year may have been the last shot at glory.....three  powerful forces are diminishing the Boks. Quotas, the decline in relative economic viability for RSA based players.....and the spread of Polynesian players throughout Europe and Australia.
In the short term I believe the third factor has more weight. In the long term perhaps the first will be our nemesis.
To this one has  to add the bumbling stupidity of our coaches, media and fans....all of whom were willing to abandon all our traditional strengths for a 'me too' All Black approach....playing a game for which our opponents have superior resources.

I include mopes like Mallett in that criticism. Never willing to play NZ rugby when they were coach.....Mallett for example placed all his bets on de Beer's drop kicking in 1999......they now demand other coaches do what they say, not what they did.

Moffie ... What about the lack of talent ... or our poor skill set??? Surely they qualify?
You've been harping on and on about it these last few years and yet neither makes your top 3. How come?
Now the blame falls on the poor Polynesian people. It's their fault that our Bok is so poor. They're to blame for all our woes!!!
Retaining the tired and elderly since 2010 has nothing to do with our collapse, right?
It's those damn Islanders. We should ban them from the sport.
I've grown accustomed to you chopping and changing your views ...doing a sudden 180 on your previous posts ... but I must admit I never saw your latest absurdity coming. That caught me by surprise.
Is it perhaps because you couldn't fit your elderly heroes into the suggested "powered up" team? Hmmmmmm?? Needed another angle and so this is the best you could conjure, huh?
Haaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaaa!!!
I suppose sitting in a soiled diaper most of the day is bound to upset one's concentration. See now why I recommended around the clock care?

I suppose if one stays in your mother's house till you are thirty and then rent the house next door one loses perspective. Would you say that  quotas and the ability to earn more money overseas impacts our talent pool.....kaching!!!
It must give you a thrill to communicate with people who have seen the world, I get that. Just try to stay civil. And try to avoid being obviously dim.

Aaaaaaaah!! I see. So it's quotas and the poor Rand doing us the dirty, huh?
Not the lack of talent in the youngsters at home. Not the discarded elderly.
My mistake. Must have misunderstood earlier posts of yours.
When you spoke of not having talented youngsters available you must have meant something else.
When you insisted on bringing the tired and elderly in that too must have been referring to something else.
And there I thought for a moment you'd gone and done another 180 on us.
Glad to see you so lucid today.

 "Woosh??"
Nothing more to say than that?
How come??
Well then ... let me help you out a bit.
According to your previous posts, our decline is due to:
1. Rejecting the elderly.
2. No up and coming home grown prospects.
3. No skills being taught to the youngsters.
4. The curse of the Polynesian people.
5. The struggling Rand.
6. And quotas
You're solution to our decline is to retain the over thirties. To fetch a few more from Europe like Frans Steyn and Ruan Pienaar because they're world cup winners a decade ago ... and of course our 40 year old MOM winner from last years bronze medal contest, Victor Matfield.
We're not to bother with the youngsters as they aren't skilled and talented enough for test match rugby. Don't bother blooding any of them. They're simply useless. Our future lies with the tired and elderly.
Forget about "Stephanie" ... he's just a pretender. Kriel is puny and so is Kitshoff and Koch. Strauss is a must and so is Beast and Jannie.
We should draw on the experience of Willem Alberts and Morne Steyn cause back in their day they won important test matches for us against the British and Irish Lions. Their experience is invaluable.
We must also rid the world of the Polynesian plague. They're to damn big, too damn powerful and so naturally skilled for the sport of rugby. It's irritating!!
How are we to compete against them. The only way for us to shine is to decrease the strength of our competition ... that way we look better.

There are however a few prospects at home though. We need to keep De Jongh in the mix as he sets our back line defences nicely. I Mozart have been a fan of the man for years now and to admit he's a failure would be too embarrassing for me so I think I'll keep defending the loser. That way I save face.
There you go ... you can take it from here.

Hope it helped.

CC spot on - However, you left out some of Mozart's other favourites.   Bring back Steenkamp, Bismarck and Bakkies as well and get De Villliers to play again.   That means that they must also call back Fourie and Kirchner.    That would represent his ideal team.
