I can only imagine how the fanatic Lions supporters like Becs, Lady MO(NH) and rooitwit are close to nervous break downs at the prospects of this match.

However a word of caution - should you guys lose please lets not have the English blaming the Welsh and vice versa. So unbecoming.

I do hope Becs is safely in England watching from the comfort of her home. The safely I am thinking about is any unfortunate spectator who may be seated next her should she be at the game. Reading between the lines poor Bob Dywer fled for his life in fear of the big brolley when he foolishly pointed out some cheating taking place.

However let us not get to distracted by Becs and her antics at rugby matches.

Go Oz take these puddas down! We dont want any NH smugness and rants by ou rooitwit the red.

Chris Pollock calls advantage over for Lions with little advantage and Genia dazzles and Folau scores under the posts.

How influential will Pollock be?

Folau scores great try. O'Connor misses third shot - 8 points down the river. Two big wingers showing the advantage of SIZE. Those Aplon lovers take note!!!

O'Connor's poor kicking could prove costly for the OZ team, the Lions look the strongest of the two though. I wonder how the Boks would have shaped up for these fake Lions, I say fake because European Lions are found in the Zoo, as opposed to the real African lions.

Lions try looks obstructionist to me? Welsh prop scrums inwards and welsh get penalty.

Oz down to having Hooper at centre. Three backs injured

If we picked a first string pack we would as usual be too tough for them Ntanga.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, goal kicking is now OZ's enemy probably more than the Lions are, that match could have been secured as soon as Beale came in, but their poor kicking has cost them the match defo. I thought Lialifano from the Brumbies will be one of the kickers today; man, Deans has a lot of work to do.

Beale did a Morne Steyn (as per Dunedin) on the Wallabies. The first miss penalty was relatively easy - the second one virtually straight in front of the poles - bur far out. I thought the Wallabies should win - but the backline disruption caused by the injuries to Lealiifano. Barnes and McCabe cost the Wallabies dearly. They should still have won despite that - but as already said under pressure Beale did a Morne and that was the end of the hope of the Wallabies.

Too true Beeno but in sport there are no if's and buts and that applies to life...how many contests have been lost with this useless analogy...the 2011 RWC final comes to mind...if only has no meaning in life...the winner takes it all, the loser has to fall. Anyway , more is nog 'n dag!

That injury to Leafifano was huge. He is a reliable goal kicker. Very tough loss as Oz were clealry the better side.

Yup it was reminiscent of dunedin in some ways. Difference was we missed 9 penalties and were more  dominant - must rank as one of the most unfortuante losses in test rugby.

I see ou rooitwit the red is in full flight. Be honest rooitwit the Lions were second best and undeserved winners.

One wonders if Quade Cooper would have been more effective than Cooper?

Lions was relatively lucky to win it, Hooper who is a flanker had to move to centre due to too many backline players being injured which disrupted the backline as mike mentioned. 12 points was wasted by the poor goal kicking which Leafiifano could've done easily. But credit to the Lions they turned up and did well. I still rate Beale a great player regardless of the miss.

Lucis it was 4 penalties and a conversion = 14 points. Plus a severely disrupted backline.

Oz won a moral victory. I am afraid though rooitwit will not concede to the obvious.

Maybe this is slightly different. Watching the WP Golf Open at Mowbray many years ago, Gary Player landed in the bunker...he took his wedge pitched a perfect shot which spun and crawled in to the hole. A spectator murmered...what luck!. Gary heard it turned around to the guy who said it , put his arm around the offender and said, "My friend, in case you don't understand this...there is no such thing as luck...the more you practise the luckier you get!"  This saying or adage became well known and is always been associated with him. But Gary proved this wisdom so many times over.

Of course the circumstances might be different but the point is a constant.

Give credit to the Lions and stop making excuses only losers do that.

Certainly illustrated at the breakdown was the difference ininteruptation thats for sure and the lions did well to over come it. Felt that Oz got the rub of plenty of 50/50 calls but only lost because of the injurys in the mid field and first game together. Also feel that there is plenty of improvment left in the lions yet but ball/pass from 9 is way too slow!

I leave abnob to his dream world. I support the Boks 100% but see no reason why I cant suppport Oz in any games not involving the Boks if I choose to do so.

Oz unlucky? I think not, they couldn't have been given more opportunities to win. They are just soft, hard hitting teams seem to hurt them, last year was it not the boks that basically reduced them to depowered scrums because the bench was emptied due to injury’s?

-

No I think Oz had the rub of the ref, a better back line and still couldn't pull it off. Injury’s the difference? Absolutely! But every team has to deal with these things and yet again Ozzy's lack of top quality depth is there to be seen.

-

You only need to listen to yourself to realise who the 'nob' is dearest beano.. If I was a religious man I'd pray for you hahahahaha. I see that dirty captain Horwill has been cited, just like the rest em..No better than their shackle dragging grandfathers! Trust ow Beano to want to support a bunch of convict bastards!

Beeno, you really do talk such drivel, it's quite embarrassing.

For the record, Australia should have won and had they done so, I would have had no complaints whatsoever.

To fail to beat a team losing players left, right and centre and who had to play a Flanker in the Centre for about 20 minutes of the second half, would have been disasterous.

But there you go, that's why I don't rate Warren Gatland as a Coach and why I had huge reservations over his selection as Coach in the first place ( regardless of the fact that he isn't British, so he shouldn't be Coach anyway, in my opinion !!! ) Australia have no problem in playing Wales, his systems are always the same, he plays to the same patterns all the time and never seems to have a Plan B.

I just hope he has one now, because this one isn't working too well thus far !!!

Saw an interview by Warren Gatland and he said the match day squad will be stronger next week.

Not sure who is coming back but it could be Jamie Roberts and perhaps Tommie Bowe.

Reckon Jamie Roberts and Odriscoll are the best centre pairing in World Rugby.

They were excellant agains the boks in 2009 especially in the 2nd test.

Both were injured when the Lions had the accendacy and had they not been injured, the Lions may well have won the 2nd test. Jean Devilliers said after the game that they were beating the backline defence of the boks at will.

The Lions were fortunate to win the first test but I think the Lions will be stronger next week especially if Roberts comes into the mix

Sharkbok - agree regarding Roberts. Lions backline will be a lot better if he is back and they should target the 10/12 channel of the Wallabies.

Also looks as if Tuilagi is getting healthy and could make an impact off the bench.

oimatey not sure if Oconner should be at 10, they may get more from him as a fullback.

I thought Barnes would have been more suited to 10 than 15.

It does not look like the toxic Cooper is going to get a call up. I would have rather had Cooper at 10, with Oconner at 15. Not sure where that would leave Beale.

Or maybe even play oconner at 12 with Cooper at 10, and Beale at 15- but that would not be the best defence but it would be allot of attackers on the field. Not sure about Mcabe, he is not the standard of other centres from Australia over the years.

What a game... shame about the kick(s) it definitely shows Aussies need full time kicking coach... Once again something Drongo doesn't have. Word is though that Liliafano was designated kicked but after 40secs was out of the game... The spectacle was intense as was the atmosphere - Ive watched Reds dominate the Cruds numerous times @ suncrop and thought that was a good atmosphere - this took it to the next level.... And to think there will be double the amount of Lions' supporters in Melbourne v Aussies......... Looking tough for the series now. Folau..... what else do I need to say except IMAGINE him on the end of QC's magic.........................! Forward pack did well and backs hammered by injuries but all round -great game even Pollack with the exception of dodgy call in favour of BILs on the Wob's tryline that led to another penalty goal kicked by halfpenny had a fairly good night - rare for kiwi ref to be so..... impartial.

AbNob you're sounding very tense there - perhaps you've now seen how good the Wob can be once they get rid of that idiot kiwi coach -seriously putting barnes @ 15...? what deadest stupid kiwi - like the rest of you. Anyway heres to Folau signing up with ARU to dominate the whinging wihining kiwis in the future...................... Talk about getting rub of the ref - noticed ONCE again no yellow cards to ABs even though Romano tackled the played in the air at lineout and your (tryhard) answer to McCheat doing repeated high shots on the poor frogs. Tide has turned ABs are on the slide.

Stupid kiwi's? Aussie firms are still emailing me with job offers Red so go fig (shrugs) Kinda tempted actually after looking at house prices in Perth. Not sure which side of the river is better though, any suggestions? Although I probably wouldn't get a day rate and tax becomes a dirty word after you get used to not paying any.

-

Right; Rugby. Foulau is awesome but this is hardly news Red, me and sas have been talking him up since he signed over to union.

One eye'd your idea of impartial, well i'm not surprised. Poor old O'driscoll was afraid to enter a ruck after the first 10 mins, but saying that the ref didn't do a 'bad' job other than could have been a bit more consistent (pen count 8-13). I think with these north/south encounters the ref just needs to be briefed on the differences in interpretation maybe esp the breakdown and allow the game to flow a bit more instead of over policing just one style.

-

Re your AB comments it's just your usual ab's, ab's. ab's cheaters, cheaters, cheaters rant init? (yawn) I mean geez Red it's not like they stomped on some poor/defencless guys head or grabbed their nutsack!

Resman ou abnob is reaching a level of shrillness on reached by a top soprano!! He should take leaf out of that big brolley weilding Becs - yes the one who chased poorBob Dywer away - Bob wasa only trying to explain how her side was cheating!!!

Abnob you will have to up your game to make a go of it in OZ so think carefully before moving.

Read this:

Aussies kicking themselves - ex Keo

Australia missed five kicks at goal in losing 23-21 to the British and Irish Lions in Brisbane.

Replacement fullback Kurtley Beale twice had the chance to win the Test for Australia in the last three minutes but on both occasions he missed. The first kick was from 25 metres and nearly in front. The second was from 40 metres but right in front. Neither came close.

Beale had kicked two earlier penalties but his last two misses negated his early contribution.

James O’Connor, at flyhalf, struggled with his all-round play and his goalkicking. He missed two penalties and a conversion.

Leigh Halfpenny, who had missed just one goalkick on tour, succeeded with five from six.

It was a fantastic Test match, in terms of entertainment and counter attack.

Australian winger Israel Folau was sensational, scoring two tries on his Test debut and Will Genia showed his class at scrumhalf. George North, for the Lions, was equally effective and scored one of the great individual tries in Lions history.

The Wallabies out of hand kicking was poor in comparison to that of the Lions, but there must be huge applause given to both teams for the manner in which each was prepared to counter attack.

The match lived up to all the hype. It had the intensity of a World Cup final and it had all the drama of one-off finals.

The Lions looked the more composed but Australia were outstanding at the breakdown and the hosts also stunned the Lions with their scrumming power in the last quarter.

The Australian forwards would have been celebrating a victory for their scrum effort had there been a recognised first choice goalkicker taking aim. Beale’s goalkicking is the weakest aspect of his game and while he has kicked the occasional match winner he isn’t a regular goalkicker.

Australia suffered because of the absence of a consistent marksman but they showed tremendous courage to be in a position to win the Test after losing both Test centres to injury and replacement centre Pat McCabe to injury.

They also lost Berrick Barnes to injury and flanker Michael Hooper played the last 30 minutes at inside centre. Replacement scrumhalf Nick Phipps was on the wing.

The Lions will celebrate the early advantage in the series but will also be mindful that in the last two visits to Australia the team winning the first Test ended up losing the series.

Man who can with reasin not say oz deserved to win. Too win by 2 points in the light of all this shows OZwere the superior team on the day.

End of story.

Whats your point Beans? That you have to qoute an entire article... Because you can't form your own opinion perhapes? I call it how I see it, this is a forum is it not?

-

Can't wait for next weeks game both teams should be better, Hopefully Liliafano is back, Oz should be a different beast with him in the mix. But on the other hand if the ref allows the lions to gain parity at the breakdown I can see them strangling the game and frustrating oz....Like other teams have before.
