In a thrilling showcase of school rugby prowess, Paul Roos Gymnasium executed a stunning late-game offensive to topple Affies with a resounding 45-28 victory, amidst a weekend of dramatic clashes across South Africa. The game, which saw Paul Roos overcome a nail-biting deficit, was just one of several matches that kept rugby fans on the edge of their seats.

It all kicked off in Stellenbosch, where Paul Roos found themselves trailing early on. However, a pivotal intercept try from flyhalf Travis Pheiffer swung momentum, propelling them to a 24-11 lead by halftime. Despite a vigorous comeback attempt from Affies after the break, narrowing the gap to a mere point, Paul Roos pulled away decisively in the final stretch. Pheiffer, who was instrumental throughout, racked up a total of 25 points.

Meanwhile, the rugby fields of the Western Cape witnessed their own dramas. Paarl Boys’ High clinched a victory against Outeniqua with a stoppage-time try, sealing the win at 26-22. Paarl Gimnasium shook off last week’s defeat with a commanding 45-12 victory over Hoërskool Durbanville. Not to be outdone, SACS and Stellenberg handed out hefty defeats to their opponents, with Stellenberg annihilating Worcester Gimnasium 78-0 in a display of sheer dominance.

"Each game is a lesson, and today's was about tenacity and teamwork," commented a jubilant Travis Pheiffer post-match.

In Gauteng, the scoreboard lit up as Jeppe obliterated St David’s Marist 62-14, and in KwaZulu-Natal, Westville Boys’ High secured a tidy 26-10 win over Maritzburg College. The prowess of Grey College shone through in Bloemfontein with a solid 31-15 victory against Monument.

The Eastern Cape also had its share of action as several schools battled fiercely. Grey High School secured a 33-12 win over Hudson Park, while Kingswood College demolished Cambridge with a staggering 78-0 scoreline. Pearson narrowly edged out St Andrew’s College in a close 22-17 game, and Framesby triumphed over Selborne College 24-15.

As the dust settles on another intense weekend of school rugby, the performances not only underline the rich vein of talent coursing through the schools but also set the stage for the upcoming fixtures that are bound to draw keen attention from rugby enthusiasts nationwide.
