PdV questions Smith

This from SARugbymag.....PDV points out Smith's tactical naiveté. To be honest I have never thought PDV has a clue, but in this case he makes sense. The Bok backline was far worse on the YE tour under Smith than they were in the RC. Add Brendan Venter, whose Italian team has leaked an almost incomprehensible 24 tries in the 6 Nations as our defensive coach, and things look desperate. Here's The Snor: ............ Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers has questioned whether Franco Smith will be able to improve the national team's attack. . In his column for KweséSports.com, De Villiers criticised the Cheetahs' tactics in their 41-14 loss to the Jaguares in Buenos Aires. . 'It seems like the Cheetahs, coached by Springbok assistant coach Franco Smith, have forgotten that the tactical kick is still an integral part of setting up the platform from which you can create attack,' wrote De Villiers. . 'The one-dimensional way in which they tried – without success – to bridge the Jaguares’ defence by running every ball made them extremely predictable. The team frustrated themselves, and in doing so their Argentinian opponents played off their mistakes. . 'The Jaguares have a flat defence, so you have to create doubt in their minds by varying your play,' De Villiers added. 'It’s good to try and keep possession, but it’s what you do with the ball that counts. Like a team playing a forward-orientated game, or a team that kicks everything, running every ball makes it easy to defend against. . 'This should be of some concern for South African rugby fans, because Smith is our country’s new attack coach. And if it is tough for him to understand this, how on earth will he be able to improve the Springboks’ attack?'

 So De Villiers is the new authority you quote to support your stated opinion of Franco Smith.  What a joke.

Wow Clevermike! Is there anything that Mozart can say without you arguing against it? My observation is that you simply take whatever Mozart has said, and say the opposite. Why don't you just save yourself the trouble of typing long winded, repetitive replies and instead simply reply with "the opposite of what Mozart says"?  I thought PDV was the worst coach we'd ever had, up until now, but that does not change the fact that what he has said in this article makes perfect sense. 

 De Villiers worse than Coetzee?   That is like the pot calling the kettle black.   They are both utterly useless as coaches.
I could not let Mozart off the hook in this case.  He supported Coetzee's appointment originally and is against Erasmus and Smith.   He stated in the past that ball-in-hand game is unacceptable and the kicking game is the only way to go.  
I agree in part with what De Villiers said - but there is a difference between tactical kicking and kicks handing over possession to the opposition.  The Jaguares is a dangerous counter-attacking team - especially if they through kicks get ball possession on a platter and that is why a simplistic approach is not the way to go.  
I would not judge the situation as to Smith on that game alone.  He had a very good success rate in turning around Zeilinga from a very average flyhalf to a better one and the team that played the Jaguares were sketchy with a lot of injuries playing a role. 
However, to get back to Mozart - he is a fool and is always using single cases to condemn the players and coaches he does not like.  And he lies about what happens on the field of play regularly - that is where most of our differences come from.       

 Wasnt PDivvy your most successful coach in the last 10 years or so ? A Lions tour win and a white-wash of the ABs plus the Tri-nats all in one year !

Dr Brendon Venter is a superb coach and great rugby brain.  It would be far better f he was Bok coach rather than Alistair. Alistair is a least a normal guy. Ou PDV is a lunatic and hence loved by ou warped DUD and his ilk. Bwahahahahahahahah

 No dipsh!t thats the best you have had for the last decade so you should re hire him PDQ .[ and no that doesnt mean PDivvy for Quanza -Claus ] We dont have a problem with our coaches.They are doing just fine thanks .

Fact is he did not bother to look at the team line-up of the backline the Cheetahs played against the Jaguares - he is too stupid to do that.

Sure - the saying goes "Birds of a feather flock together" and Mozart and P Divvy are birds of a feather - they compete with each other in the ignorance stakes. 

 PDivvy is a halfwit  but he is quite entertaining with some of his nonsense .He lucked into a team that could more or less take care of itself .

The Cheetahs had 5 kicks in play the next lowest team last week had 14 and the average well over 20. . The facts show Snor was totally right. . Game, set and match.
