Yesterday the match was introduced with moving opening ceremonies. A wonderful rendition of the South African anthem(s) and an ethereal God Save the Queen sung by a wisp of a woman with a voice that made each word meaningful. It was marvellous.....as was the South African flag commanding the harbour.

But then, scarcely an hour later the crowd who witnessed this magic, were booing a Springbok hero. A decent and modest man, who has been a big part of recent Bok history.

Was it the booze or just rank bad manners? Probably both.  But it's a pity. We rarely acheive that emotional fine pitch in our public affairs and to see it discredited so soon was disappointing.

I agree with you 100% in what you said.   On all accounts Morne is a deeply religious gentleman and he deserves better.   He is not missing the kicks at goal delibiberately - nor making mistakes in play.   Show me one person in life who has not made mistakes and then we can discuss the matter.   Lets take to saying that the booing on Sunday was an abomination and should be regarded as such.

That does not mean that everyone cannot have differences of opinion about his selection.   I think we have no option  but to change the team if he keeps on being unsuccessful in play - but I also think criticism should be objective and given in a fair and reasonable way.

Moz we are talking about cheeky watson terrritory so what can one expect.  Puke watson was probably puking outside the ground on a bok jersey etc. Time he recanted of that statement.

No to expect gentlemanly behaviour in PE is asking a little too much.

Gentlmen remember that EP is the culrure center of our government and always rises to the occassion.

But also remember that Morne Steyn might be a believer and all those good things......but

He is representing his country and is not performing to the standard required to help his team win matches.

The fans are more than frustrated by his endless wastefull kicking away posession plus poor ball distribution and non existing flair required in that position.

The country is blessed with talent in that position so lets ues it or lose it.

Sport  is played to win funny enough.

P.S. Cooper from OZ is no saint in life but he is star on the field.
