Knowledgeable rugby people wrote on this board. They enlighten people of their sound judgement.

Here's one: SA rugby teams must be decreased as there is not enough quality player in SA to feed SA teams involved in SR (there is simply no SA quality player but this is another story)

It followed two SA rugby teams were axed from SR... to be moved to a european competition.

The brilliant rugby minds told there was not enough talent in SA to support SR SA rugby teams and now two direct pipelines to the north were opened.

SA rugby players are going to flock toward the two clubs, they will be provided with golden opportunities to be signed by a NH club.

SA franchises involved in the SR are going to be unable to compete and what they offer in SR will be of lesser quality.

The Trad, this is probably your best post ever! It is interesting that you point out the possible player drain heading up North. That is a side effect of the reduced number of Super Rugby franchises that we have not really explored. It may spell even more woes for South African rugby. However, the reduced number of Super Rugby franchises was not implemented to strengthen the player pool, but more to improve the format of the competition from a spectator point of view. The conference system as it is, is universally disliked...they had to do something to improve viewer interest and hopefully improve the competitiveness of SA and Aus.

Yes, TheTiredRacist must be sure to let us know when this stampede of players to the Kings and the Cheetahs starts because so far it's just been has-beens and off-cuts that have joined.

There are more spin-offs to this than merely a bunch of players involved in something other than the sinking SANZAAR ship. Some of our referees will also be involved in the games. I have seen the referee appointments for the first round somewhere. That means that our referees will have more chances to be involved in NH refereeing. They will be working more closely with the likes of Nigel Owens than in the past. The coaches will be in closer contact to NH coaches and training methods. The SA sides will also be able to feed off the administration and structures of the NH clubs. I have long held the opinion that that side of their rugby is way better than the SH. I think (hope perhaps?) that SARU is secretly hoping that this becomes a major success to test the waters so they could, at some stage in the future, dump SANZAAR. Remember that the Europeans are quietly looking at the US. The RFU already has their foot in the door in a way.

People on this board differ: they stated that reducing the number of SA sides involved in SR would strengthen the player pool.

Now their wishes are fulfilled, the opposite is going to happen. It shows the quality of their insights and they ability to measure decisions.

No surprise SA is such a mess.

 Yes, TheTiredRacist

Being given the accolade by someone hailing from a place as rich in racist history as SA is, is a great distinction.

must be sure to let us know when this stampede of players to the Kings and the Cheetahs starts because so far it's just been has-beens and off-cuts that have joined.

A time window can be provided.

The transfer of the clubs to the NH happen at a short notice so clubs did not have time to attract players. They lost many in fact.

It will take one year maybe two to steady the situation.

Another factor is going to be players availability. Players are contracted and the opportunity must arise to sign them in.

That is that simple. Now, contrary to what happens in other NH sides, this time, SA players will not benefit from the work of other nationality players to prop them up and make them look better than they are.

No, they are not looking for an easy ticket. They are trying to keep players playing and earning money. Remember when the Lions were booted out of Super Rugby? Did they just accept their fate and sat down Ina corner and sulk? Nope they followed every possible opportunity. They leant out their players to other franchises to keep them on the go. They played all kinds of games against all kinds of opposition, despite everybody taking the piss at them for saying that they were going to come back and boy, did they come back. What have the Aussie team that was boot out done about their situation. Last I read they are threatening with legal action, etc, etc. I'm telling you, the two SAFFA teams are making the most of this and I would like to predict that they are going to come out tops.

It's a pity the Kings lost a few quality players, including their 2 stars...Cloete and Cronje. I still hope they can be competitive in the Pro. I'm sure the Cheetahs will be. I wonder if the same team will be playing Currie Cup and Pro 14 concurrently, like in the North.

SA sides are going to struggle. They might do well in SA based matches as foreign teams will not commit to play in the heat of summer.

For the other parts, it is going to be hard. Most of the distorting factors that conceal the failure of rugby in SA are not going to operate.

Last night encounter showed a frustrated SA side. Players are forced to reckon they are out of their depth. They are going to face midly committed NH sides that play to ensure qualifications for their main competition: european cups.
The committment level will be enough to expose SA rugby.

Those SA sides are just a bridge for SA players to NH clubs.
NH clubs will keep an eye on them to draft the less bad of them all to raise the club profile.

I'm just trying to communicate with Trad in terms he understands. IE Nonsensical bullshyte.

There is no issue of understanding from this side.
There is also no issue of understanding from the other side, simply  attempts to drown a fish.

SA is not an example for taking responsibility and bear accountability.
For scapegoating though...

It's easy to understand what TheTraditionalist is saying. Sometimes he is saying the opposite of what he is saying and at other times he is saying exactly what he is saying. If you struggle to understand what he is saying, you are making the mistake of reading what he he saying as if it is what he intends to say. Or it could be that your take on what he is perceived to be saying, is clouded by what you yourself think he might be saying, because of your perception of what you think he would, or might say...

I'm glad I could help!

Indeed Trad. 25 years on and the scapegoating continues...just like in Europe, just like in the US. And on and on. So many fish, so little time.

Indeed Trad. 25 years on and the scapegoating continues...just like in Europe, just like in the US. And on and on. So many fish, so little time.

Just like the US? The US barely play rugby and they have non white players who make them the squad without being boosted.

Just like Europe? Europe has been training non white players to make the squads without being boosted.

One non white player trained in England and who makes the english squad regularly is expected to become a big wage earner if not the biggest wage earner in the english domestic league.

25 years indeed, that may be the age of the player. Indeed, in the meantime, SA have been unable to train one decent non white player. The demand is not on a world class player as this other guy is, just one decent.

Scapegoating going on, SA style. Maybe that is because there are not non white people down in SA. Might be an explanation.
