There has been much written about the existing Springboks and the younger potential players that could feature in future as potential SPRINGBOKS. I have also said that Super 15 in 2013 should indicate the way forward.
I think that we should try and develop a "score card" for players and although there would obviously be differences in evalutaion by individual members of their favoured players - a model should be developed to have an impartial evaluation of the players concerned so as to arrive at an objective analysis of potential future Springbok selection.
However, I am not computer literate enough to devise such a model - but I think it could be based on the model used by Sharkbok in the case of the Pretoria, Soweto and Irish tests in the case of Taute. There is no similar models used by ESPN Scrum on Super 15 level. Maybe the list of players should be done on the home site by the editor and players should start off with potential contenders and added to as the season progresses - depending on how younger and newer players starts to shape up.
In the end we should have a score card evaluating players out of 10. Realistically only players with more than 6.5 points should be rated as potential Springboks.
In any event - it would be an interesting exercise to see how players shape up and see how our ratings compare with Meyer's ultimate selection of players.
EDITOR CAN YOU HELP OUT IN THIS CASE?
