Here we go:-

15  Willie le Roux     -       6

14  Cheslyn Kolbe    -       7

13  Lukhanjo Am     -        4

12  Damian de Allende   -  7

11  Mapimpi                  -  4

10  Pollard                    -  7,5

  9  Faf de Klerk            -  4

  8  Duane Vermeulen    -  3

  7  P-S du Toit              -  6,5

  6  Kwagga Smith         -  5,5

  5  Franco Mostert        -  4,5

  4  Eben Etzebth           -  5,5

  3  Frans Malherbe        -  5,5

  2  Malcolm Marx          -  5,5

  1  Steven Kitshoff        -  5,5

Replacements

  16 Bongi Mbonambi     -   5,5

  17 Tendai Matarira      -   6

  18 Trevor Nyakane      -   6

  19  RG Snyman           -   5

  20  Francois Louw        -   5

  21  Herschel Jantjies    -   8

  22  Francois Steyn       -   4

  23  Jesse Kriel             -   5

Worst player was Vermeulen followed by a host others who did preciously little during the game and when eh did he was a  liability.  The goodhue try came from a Vermeulen bugger-up.

A very good effort anyway by the rest of the team

That try of Jantjies was in no small reason helped by Du Toit. And what did Steyn do to deserve a 6 - he did squat in ball carries ( 2 carries for no meters gained)  and he made 4 tackles missing 1.

De Allende cut out SBW completely and made six tackles missing NONE

I was very generous giving him a 4.  How many more bugger-ups did Vemeulen made and he got a 7 - madness .  He was personally responsible for 10 of the 16 AB points.  Should get a 2 for that.

Defnitief Draad.

                     Vermeulen 13 - 1 gemis.

Waar die problem was is the volgende:

Balle aangeslaan  2

Strafskopp e            2

Die problem verbonde aan die vorafgaande is dat dit  gely het tot 10 van die 16 AB punte

Spyt - maar did is defnitief nie goed genoeg nie.

Owen and others

I have bad news for you. - the Rugby 365 rating is as follows:-

22 Frans Steyn (On for Damian de Allende, 56th minute)
He offered nothing on attack and just made up the numbers in the last 20 minutes.  3/10

He got the ball exactly twice, of which one was static with a defender straight on to him. What exactly does "Warren Fortune", whoever he is, want him to offer on attack with two possessions?

Verdediging het dit defnetief gedoen vir ons...Vermeulen will get better as the team gains momentum...he must peak against Ireland and NZ in the world cup.

But his defense was also faulty.   So not the player he actually was - excuses aplenty.   Esterhuizen was a hu ge liability last week - Steyn seriously defective last week and worse today.

PSdT was IMHO our best player.

Must say I was once again disappointed with our front row. I know we have problems on tighthead, but wtf is going on with Kitskos?

Kwagga had a great game.

Not so sure about Vermeulen.

But his defense was also faulty.

Current defense numbers on ESPN (Turnovers conceded/tackles made/tackles missed):

In 56 minutes on the field:

D AllendeC 1 5 0

In 24 minutes on the field:

F SteynR 0 5 1

So Steyn made the same amount of tackles as DA in less than half the time on the field. Next excuse?

De Allende never missed the tackle and neutralized SBW off=load game - Steyn allowed the players he tried to tackle to off\load accurately and with ease - hence the improvement in the AB ball  carries when Steyn came on.  Totally ineffective tackles - in Mozart sayings Steyn made weak tackles De Allende strong ones.

Rugby 365 made an HONEST assessment of Steyn's performance - read I again and learn.

Trevor Nyakane only gets a 6 from everyone? He turned the scrums around almost single-handedly.
Willie le Roux is just plain useless and has been for some time now. Hopefully Damian Willemse gets fit again soon or else we need to get Curwin Bosch into the squad pronto.
Talking of players surviving on bloated reputations, has there ever been a single Springbok test match where both Eben Etzebeth and Pieter-Steph du Toit started when Pieter-Steph didn't comprehensively outplay the much hyped Etzebeth? If Pieter-Steph ever made as little contribution as Etzebeth made today then his army of detractors would be shrieking to the heavens about what a useless player he is.
Well done Bokke. Considering the last-gasp try and the fact that the All Blacks dominated us in every facet of play bar the scoreboard, that felt like a win!

Well, the official SANZAAR stats say differently.
I'm not saying these stats are all correct but they're not sucked up by some biased individual . . . and if there's a mistake here or there then it's hardly enough to change the entire picture:

ON ATTACK

METRES CARRIED

South Africa - 245

New Zealand - 395

CARRIES

South Africa - 99

New Zealand - 141

DEFENDERS BEATEN

South Africa - 10

New Zealand - 22

CLEAN BREAKS

South Africa - 3

New Zealand - 7

PASSES

South Africa - 103

New Zealand - 207

OFFLOADS

South Africa - 10

New Zealand - 13

POSSESSION

South Africa - 43%

New Zealand - 57%

ON DEFENCE

TACKLES

South Africa - 155

New Zealand - 91

MISSED TACKLES

South Africa - 22

New Zealand - 10

BREAKDOWN

RUCKS WON

South Africa - 74

New Zealand - 109

PENALTIES CONCEDED

South Africa - 11

New Zealand 8

FINAL SCORE?

“Posted by: Saffex (16383 posts) Jul 27, 2019, 22:31 Disagree Rooi we dominated the first half they did the second” Really? We camped out in their half. We defended like tigers and attacked like demons and all we got to show was two penalties with the All Blacks grabbing their one chance and immediately scored a try from it to “win” the first half. Maybe I have just gotten too pessimistic and negative about the Boks but I’m not that impressed yet. Don’t get me wrong. I’m really happy about the draw but I’m still not all that impressed. I am quite impressed be scrummy Jantjies though. We have always had two kinds of scrummies in SA. It was either a big strong guy in the Joost/Robert Du Preez/Tommy du Plessis mold or a small nippy guy in the Divan Serfontein/Garth Wright mold. Nothing in between. Jantjies is the latter. He is really small but very nippy and clearly a quick thinker and he seemed to have slipped into the team as if he’s been part of it for ages. Faf’s spot may not be all that secure any more.

Ceradyne

In some respects I agree with you.  There are a few weak spots in the team that need urgent attention and those are -

*   the lack of physicality by the Tight 5 in general and by Mostert in particular.

*   the deficiency in loosie play - the only player who contribute regularly and top class is Du Toit.-  Kwgga is a work horse, but lack physicality, while Vermeulen''s contribution yesterday as a negative and in most tests under Meyer was minimal;

*   the attack deficiency of the centers - but De Allemnde's defense was very good and aggressive he is lacking in attacking ability - Kriel is reasonable in attack with defense not being all that good and Am is crap and Steyn and Eterhuizen basically liabilities and not international standard;

*   some physicality in the outside backs.

However, the position overall is not as bad as it was in 2015 - so I believe there has been an improvement in what happened in 2015, 2016 and 2017.   There is ample scope for further development and i t is clear the players are gaining confidence in their game.   ,

The first thing that came to mind when I started reading your post was that this was going to evolve into blowing smoke up Du Toit and De Allende arses and bashing Steyn and Mostert again. How wrong was I. I forgot about Esterhuizen.....

No C eradyne

What I said about all players were objective. and not falsely boosting any players or criticizing any players without foundation.

I specifically mention that Tight 5 deficiency in a fair and reasonable way - same with the loosies an centers.  I pointed out De Allende's attacking deficiency specifically.   So what else is wrong,

I agree with Beeno - the demonizing of Du Tout has been going on long enough and the constant and unsubstantiated BS attacks on him should stop.. .
