I heard Louis Koen say that Peter Grant has all the attributes for Heineken Meyers type of flyhalf to meet the game plan. Is this adios Morne?

The only major weakness I see in his game is his touch finders. He cant kick ver far out of hand.

However with Ruan Piennaar at scrum falf and Frans Steyns rock launcher boot-this could be overcome. Frans Steyn could play flyhalf for Lineouts and scrums in our 22 area.

His pole kicking has been over the last few seasons allmost as good as Morne, and actually better this year than Morne.

I have not seen much of his up and unders- ala bulls/bok style for kick and chases but Mornes have been poor as of late anyway so cant really do any worse.

Peter Grant could also make the next world cup.

I think Morne should be on the bench, with Lambie at fullback to also offer cover at Flyhalf. Aplon on the bench to cover wing and fullback.

In general I think Hieneken Meyer must have some regrets as we are going into the 4 nations with an unsettled backline- as we need a better flyhalf. The 3rd test would have been a good oppertunity- must most people do not see Earl Jantjies as the future.

I'd have Grant over Morne anyday, not contest - but my first choice would be Jantjies until Goosen is back to challenge

Saffex

Since when have you become and All Black and Wallaby supporter?   The inclusion of Jantjies would be a disaster for the Springboks - so I am uncertain whether you have changed to that.

I do think that Meyer would have studied Jantjies carefully and know his shortcomings and he would not take a chance on that one.   Likely scenario is Grant in place of Steyn in the starting line up with Steyn on the bench.

Couldn't agree more - he is a perfect stop gap until the young ones are ready. Morne's act is long in the tooth.

Goosen is still too young and unproven, not even a whole S15 season yet

i think its a decent call but then again do you want to short term solution or rather invest in the future for the no 10. i still think morne will crack the nod but grant might be a better option. i dont think goosen will be ready yet. maybe lambie might be a quick fix with franna the goal kicker

I agree with Sharkbok, Peter Grant fits the HM "skop, jag en donder" gameplan and is in good form at the moment while Morne is far from his best. Jantjies has glaring weaknesses on defence and is easily intimidated when bigger players run at him. He needs to move to a union like the Sharks, where they will work on his game and mould him into the type of player that might oneday fit into the Sprinbok set up.

But, ultimately, Goosen is the man. He is a well rounded and freakishly gifted young man and I cannot see anybody challenging him for that number 10 spot.

Well the good thing about using grant is

1. you will have some stability as he brings a maturety with him.

2. You won't hand out bok caps as he already has a few.

It would be interesting to test a combo of Hougaard, Gratn and F Steyn though. They should pack a good punch.

grant is a little bit les robotic than morne. to be honest i think grant deserves a shot at least.

Lambie he has the Bok experience already... Grant/Jantjies are both worth a shot, but if it comes down to game time experience I can't see past Lambie.

Please... for the love of Allah...

Explain to me why Grant over Lambo or Bushy?

Lambo and Bush have both been involved in the Bok setup and are ready to mix it up with the Bokke.

Grant... a slightly more dynamic option than Steyn... but not a great option!

Why waste our time!

We have 3 potentially GREAT options at 10! 1 is injured.
