Peyper Fouled up

 Agree the SA refs are poor at best with one exception...Joubert.Refs at this level should not make so many bad/incorrect calls with two assistants/TMO and all the technology available.
A pity that some teams lose a game though poor reffing with no or little resulting action against the refs.
But like everything the game is also going to pot.

peyper is a great ref IMO.

but regarding some of the comments here, the cheetahs player should have released him straight away as per the law.

but the in game application of this law needs to be considered, cos IMO the cheetahs player was holding on to sweil no more or less then the average player who tackles another ball carrier.

timo sweil played the ball on  the ground almost instantaneous, so it could be argued the cheetahs player didnt have time to release.
the cheetahs player could have theoretically thought that sweil didnt release the ball but was still trying a break for it, in other words, he might have thought his tackle wasnt complete and was compelled to hold on.

its worthy of consideration considering the number of times players and officials have gotten the release the ball straight away call/play wrong this year already.
not as bad as the 50/50 scrum penalties we see every match, but still high.

and while i agree that cheetahs should have been penalised, a call saying a penalty try shpould have been given is way off.
theres no way anyone can say that had sweil not been impeded it was a 100% certain try, and that is wahts reequired before one can be justified and awarded.
