Phelps vs the hanging Chad

Le Clos talked a strong game, did some great shadow boxing and gave Phelps the evil eye....unfortunately Phelps did his work in the pool. Tokkie weren't you the chap who was telling me the Chadster had Phelps' number?

Too much expectation on the lad I reckon. He was something like two seconds slower than his winning time in London. Age is not the issue, and with four years to improve, a confidence boosting medal in the freestyle and the motivation of both his parents' battling cancer, he should have had all the incentive required to perform. The mark of a champion is his ability to deal mentally with the pressure of expectation. He fell short. He is still physically good enough to be the best, he just needs to figure out how to get the mental edge. 
That said. watch out for Le Clos in his other events still to come...the reduced expectation on him now will relieve some of the pressure. I don't think we are done seeing medals from him in Rio.   

 Phelps was around before Le Clos was even heard of and it seems Phelps will be around a little longer while Le Clos fades into history as just another one hit wonder.
Very disappointed in Chad.

I am not a fan of Phelps the man, but nobody can argue with what he has achieved. He is a one in a hundred years type of athlete.

Have you nothing else to wrote about than the athletes and players you hate?   There is no need to carry on lying about Le Clos - you were caught out already previously.  You wrote an attack on him and even the so-called shadow boxing was a farce invented by you and your stooges.   It happened months after you attacked le Clos on this site based on a story in the US media.     
Nobody disputes the fact that Phelps was the greatest swimmer ever - but his time has past and his world records are all falling by the wayside one by one.   So he is a great and always will be - nobody argues about that. 
I never said he had Phelps number  but Le Clos broke two world records held by Phelps previously - so what else is new on your part?   Just concocting further rubbish.

All three will be back in the pool tonight for the final, an event that Phelps has been looking forward to since le Clos won gold in London. That was the beginning of this rivalry, which has burned off and on in the past 48 months, all of it leading up to tonight’s race. Five hundredths of a second — that’s how much faster le Clos was than Phelps in 2012, giving the South African the gold and Phelps his first international loss in the 200-meter butterfly in a decade. But I won’t,” he said after the race. “I’m going to let what I do in the pool do my talking.” Le Clos continued to let his mouth do the talking. “I’m just very happy that he’s back to his good form, so he can’t come out and say, ‘Oh, I haven’t been training,’ or all that rubbish that he’s been talking,” le Clos said, referencing Phelps’s claims that he didn’t really try in London. Le Clos’s dad even got in on the trash talk. “However fast Michael goes, we go faster. I don’t care about his times, because I know my son is going to beat him,” he told the AP. A few months later, le Clos revealed that the back-and-forth with Phelps hurt him. And then he tried to hurt Phelps. “If I was as great as he was, I would conduct myself in a way children would be proud of,” le Clos said, clearly referencing Phelps’s 2014 DUI arrest and subsequent stint in rehab. “I thought I was good friends with him, clearly not.  The so-called shadow boxing incident is just verbal garbage based on part of Le Clos warming up exercises and the fact is that Le Clos was very disappointing - but that was obviously largely based on the health problems of both his parents. 
His mother is out of hospital now and was at the World Short Course Championship in Canada - where Le Clos broke the 100 meter butterfly World Record, won both the 200 meter and 50 meter butterfly gold medals and the silver medal in the 200 meter free style.   He also was the male swimmer of the event in the said WC competition.
By the way his 100 meter short course record is more than 4 seconds faster than Phelps ever swam in short course competition -  so he is obviously back to his best.
