There seems to be a problem with him playing at 13 when you look at his defence in that position. He made some great tackles in the Reds game - but when I look at the ESPN stats I was a bit perplexed. He attempted 7 tackles - made 4 and missed 3. Is that what realy happened? If it is he is perhaps not an efficient defender at 13 as he would be on the wing. A mere observation - how about comments on that score.
Pietersen - is he really a good 13?
Seems like your adoration for the stats man at ESPN is reaping rewards......he appears as stupid as you are.
13) JP Pietersen. A very polished outing, played in an unfamiliar position. Defence was a strength although he battled to get any sort of decent ball on attack. 6/10

Calm down - it was just a question I raised - not a statement of fact. Maybe there is some truth in the statement about him playing in an unfamilier postition as quoted by you. Maybe the defence issue played a role in that statement - so I am leaving it at that.
Its not my statement, it was the Sharksfans webiste statement and shows what crap the ESPN stats are.
JP had a good game defensively, 3 missed tackles is just bullshit. That fool of a statistician was obviously watching another game - seems about right for ESPN

As I understand it the stats are not doen by a statistician looking at games. it is based on a computerized basis of analysis done as to the actual occurrences on the field of play - and afterwards rechecked.and in some cases revised to ensure reliability.
It is not done by a fool watching another game as alleged by you - and definitely not by viewing a game with blinkers. By the way - I agree with you about stats in one game. It is only when stats keep on the same problem encountered by players recurred statistically all the time when it raises doubts about a performance of a player.
Take for instance the tackle stats of De Jongh. Statistically thus far this year he missed 25% of all atempted tackles he tried to make. On Satuday he attempted to make 5 tackles - was successful in 3 and missed 2. When this type of thing is a recurrent problem in every game he played in is shown up by stats - then I become convinced there is a problem and looked out in subsequent games whether there is a problem and it is usually confirmd in the subsequent games that there is a deficiency.
I think he could make a good 13. In fact I would really like to see him next to an intelligent center like Jean or even Jan Serfontien. He is strong near the opposition goal line and can break a defence. h ecan als opass!!! Something De Jongh cant do - another reason the Stormes backline malfunctions on attack.
There have been question marks raised over JP's defence and correctly so. But given his good defence on the wing that could surely be remedied. Dont give the thetouchline is hisfriend on the wing bit. He is strong fast enough and has a good rugby brian. No reason why he couldnt become a good tackler.
Unfortunately he if off to Japan. Quite a blow that! Its like bath water going down a plug.
