I can see you are a great rugby man, right to the bone. A  couple of things though.

1. The Boks got no more favour from the refs than any other side in the amature era, we had our fair share of bad calls against us.

2. The All Blacks were no more lucky to win  this RWC than the Boks were to win the last.

3 Bryce Lawrence had the worst game I ever saw in a RWC playoff game, ever, but if we realy wanted/deserved that game, we should have won despite him. There was ample opportunity to do so, keeping in mind the experience  of the team.

4. The Frogs had a good game in the final and had a couple of calls against them, but surely they are less deserved than the 'Blacks, they lost against Tonga for crying in a bucket.

5. All respect to Mr Mandela, but that aside, RSA pollitics and history is not your forte, so rather leave it off a rugga forum.

Keep well and her's to bringing tours back!

It gets seriously annoying when foreigners keep going on about SA politics.

That's becoming quite tiring to hear. We should have won in spite of Bryce? Should a better boxer win in spite of having both arms tied behind his back? this isn't some Hollywood flick where against immeasurable odds the hero comes out on top. Bryce made sure that the Boks, who had 21 points removed and over a dozen others as well, would not win that game. If the adjudicator is leaning towards s preference you cannot fight against that. Much like the French loss in the final. New Zealand's winning penalty came after a severe swinging arm that was never called. Those happened repeatedly all game. The breakdown was the usual New Zealand twaddle amongst many other illegal tactics that have become their stapple. To say the French had a couple of calls against them is a gross understatement.

Point 5... A men to that! Why he brought all that up is beyond me. Incredible how a thread about Habana at outside centre can end up on politics.

My point exactly, der Aristokrat, every other post is slanted or turned into a political post. It's beyond me how a post about Habana's positional switch can end up in politics.  

I am afraid Draad's line of argument is deeply flawed. The simple fact is given a fair competent ref we would have clobbered the ozzies and won comfortably. We were robbed blind by possibly the worst ref display ever but defintely one of the worst ever in the history of the game.

The French were also clearly the better team in the final but got shafted by our craig joubert.(Yes the one who shafted the Stormers in the Super 14 final - illicitng an outburst from Schalk Burger who never before or since has complained about the ref!)

I am afraid the joke is on some in SA. Many saffas were glad that if we didn't win the ABs did.eg Naas Botha etc. However while we think nz are our friends  and we favour them - they shaft us!

At last! My name in Sponge lights!

And the fairest blog I've ever read from DbDraad. Right as an honest man. Rugby is better than national pride.

Okay - politics and sport.

Its the muttered mantra: No politics in sport. Rugby not politics. If only.

Trouble was our best mates the Springboks would not let us select certain NZ'ers for the tours, if its tours you want to talk about. So any victory achieved under those rules has to be fake.

Truly, rugby is the future. Soccer cannot be adapted as Sevens or 20/20 Cricket for that matter. But politics has ruined a good section of our relationship as rugby nations. Surely that is worth airing?

All through school, the grades, or Bantams and Midgets, the Rats and Mice NZ'ers played in the same teams, had a piss-up and went to practice on freezing nights on poorly lit fields.

So when our Springbok best mates of whom we dreamed would live with us in Rugby Heaven, every day a Saturday, told us to call them honorary whites, we felt betrayed. What about the rugby, we asked? 

No politics in sport? There is none in NZ. We abhor politics and sport being mixed up.  

Now, we have had a dust up settled by DbDraad, and we must go on. Truly, we love South Africans. I kept a ball of mud I picked off the jersey of a Bok for at least a year as a kid.

So, don't call me names and I won't call you out.

No politics in sports in NZ, you say, Fred old Sport? What happened in the 2011 RWC? I'm not saying anything. I'll leave it up to you to tell us.
