Yeah, Boshoff had a very poor game, his decision making was as poor as some of his executions, trying to run out of his 22 and then conceding a penalty straight in front.

It is all good and well to want to run from anywhere, but you need a proper exit plan against good defence.  

The player responsible for the Lions' loss was Whiteley.

With about 10 min left on the clock, the Lions were trailing by only 6 points, so why did he select to kick for goal knowing that this route would require another penalty kick followed by extra time?

He should have kicked for the corner and hope he could score a converted try, or even a penalty try under the posts which would have given him victory.

The odds are better than 50:50 because the corner kick came from a penalty, so you can throw the ball in, in which case the odds must be in your favour - unless you have a hopeless lineout, but in that case your team should never have reached the final.
