Points for and against the Boks...14/15/16

2014  332 for....237 against = plus 95
2015  332 for....208  against = plus 124
2016  155 for....178. against = minus 23 (after 7 games)


This is a crude measure of how much the team has declined. But of course for those who would immediately argue that we haven't played as many games in 2016, unable to deal with proportionality. Here are the results after 7 games in 2015
2015  193 for....156 against = plus 37
And stunningly in 2014 after 7 games, with victories over Oz and NZ still to come
2014   203 for....137 against = plus 66
The truth is despite all the attempts to draw parallels with 2014 and 2015, the Boks have taken a huge lurch downwards. Now the argument appears to be Coetzee is worse than HM. How ironic is that?

 Crude measure indeed.   The only measure is not to compare years during WC years when anything.    The teams played against in the WC is highly unlikely to play against other years.  So you ae trying to compare apples with pears and come up with bananas.
The only reasonable explanation is to compare apples with apples - in other words how did the Springboks compare with the same teams they played against in the last 15 months of Meyer's coaching and how are they performing against the same teams  they played against this year.   The situation is simple - but there were only three rounds played last year because of the rugby championship while this year there will be six rounds of those.  So lets take the first three matches played by the Springboks this year as a real indication of what happened. 
Ireland 
The Springboks played Ireland four times since November 2014 and the points differences were as follows:-
2014    =     For  -  14  Against  29  - Point Difference  -142016    =     For  -  71  Against  65  - Point Difference -   6
Definite Improvement on 2014 performance
Rugby Championship
2015    =     For  -  60  Against  87  - Point Difference  -  27    2016    =     For  -  66  Against  88  - Point Difference -   22
The difference year was the game against New Zealand.   New Zealand this year beat Australia and Argentina by wider points difference than they did SA - so they are in a class of their own.   SA beat Argentina in the home game - while they lost against Argentina last year in Durban by a wide margin.   So SA is basically omn par with Australia with what happened last year and showed a better result against Argentina.
Meyer was a clueless cad deficient coach - Coetzee is an atrocious coach.  That also impacts on team performances.
The huge lurch downwards is a stupid and prejudiced viewpoint of Mozart.  Fact is the Springboks were poor since November 2014 and remains so this year,   There was no real downward trend bar against New Zealand and all teams playing New Zealand this year suffered the same fate.

 Oh you conveniently took out the Bargie game we won.....how funny, why don't we just do Apples to Apples and include all matches against RC teams including those in the WC.
