Mitchell is trying to build u a team from scratch and to drop players to make way for Pollard and Paige is just not on.
Pollard needs to remain with the Bulls until there is an indication that he is worthy of national selection. At this stage that is miles away from reality. He is in fact not the player he used to be and on Saturday - when he came on - he was poor and clearly out of depth.
I wish he would come right - the country needs a good flyhalf - but at this stage things are not looking bright. The problem with Pollard is that he is so out of form - it will take Mitchell months to get him onto a decent team player fitting in with an acceptable playing style that was knocked out of Pollard by Ludeke and Meyer. The last two tried to turn the promising Pollard into a Morne Steyn clone.

Well both Pollard and Paige think they have the inside lane to the Bulls starting 15.
Mitch is telling them to pull finger or else.
Pollard was awful when he came on. He needs a fearful amount of work. I don't think he'll ever see the form he once had.
I hear Jan Serfontein is not happy at the Bulls either . I wonder if he had a run in with Mitch? He probably also thought it was his right to start in the run on team.
Interesting days lie ahead.

CC
Maybe Pollard is another Fat Fransie - a very promising youngster at 20 and a serial f lop at 25,

Pollard needs to be put on a conditioning program to lose muscle weight.
The Bulls have turned him into a creatine donkey. He is bulky and slow- and over 100kg which is big for a flyhalf- but I am sure Mitchell will have a camp Staalstraad equivalent planned to get him running fit. Pollard will be sweating like a pig in no time....
Serfontein signed over 6 months ago with an overseas team, long before Mitchell arrived.

ATM, they can rather play him at 12, he almost looks like a JDV clone.

The Pollard we saw as a junior has disappeared ... a long time ago. There is nothing left of that magical player.
His focus is no longer as it was. He's overweight, cumbersome and seriously lacks the attitude of an international star.
I wouldn't allow him anywhere near the Lions ... and yet Tottie will hang onto him just as he has Rhule.

I am patient - but patience may not be a virtue in the case of Pollard and even Janties. The latter made foul-ups in the last two tests - but Pollard was so poor he could not even make foul-ups.
Patience is the answer. Both Willemse and Bosch is the hope for the future - we cannot afford another Fat Fransie in the Springbok squad whether at flyhalf or center,
Pollard's only hope is that Mitchell gets him fit and pacier than he is at the moment. He will have to start playing thinking rugby - which seems to be impossible at present.

We're desperate for a 10 ... have been for awhile now ... and to be honest I don't have much hope in any of those you've mentioned, Mike. Perhaps you see something in them that I don't.
Many thought that Goosen would solve our problem. Lambie, Morne, Jantjies, Boshoff and even Fats Fransie ... we've moved on from them all ... except Jantjies, but I think his days are numbered ... so who do we have left? Youngsters that haven't exactly lit the world ablaze.
We're in trouble at 10.

I am hesitant of Bosch in view of his flop in the Under20WC. However, Willense seems to be the better of the two.

I changed my mind about Pollard ages ago. There is not a single game that I can remember that stood out particularly since his early games in 2012. OK, maybe his kicking for posts in the WRC semi final against NZ but that was probably it.
Another youngster who was ruined by being pushed onto the big stage too soon. He was brilliant against his peers in the JRWC and against weak teams like Scotland on their 2012 SA tour but he became just another flyhalf against tougher opposition. His time to shine would have been the 2019 RWC. Not the 2015 one. Now I doubt if he would even make the 2019 RWC squad.

Pollard needs game time which he obviously will not get at the Boks. The best would be to lend him to the Cheetahs who has to field 2 teams simultaneously, the CC and the Pro14.

Typical of the sausage machine NEXT SAFFA mentality......get someone to mentor him, coach him, he would not have known a half decent flyhalf coach in any part of his career, perhaps he'll come good under Mitchell.....but to discard him.....naaah we diss our talent too soon. For a start he shouldn't be playing at international level, give him a run in the Currie Cup first.

He should have got time to play in the SA squad. No matter who is played, SA will lose.
When you play loser rugby, selection does not matter. Games stand as training time.
