This is the future of Bok flyhalf play....not Goosen. Tough minded and rugged....with a good turn of pace and an eye for the gap (he should lend it to Steppie)....he will do very well if he stays healthy.

Goosen will harden physically but I have to say Pollard is loking like a future great. Having a great flyhalf is a priceless asset. Having two is even better. Then there is the very capable lambie who has such a good head on him.
Awesome Bok side in the making and under a sound coach. Meyer will slowly put all the pieces together is still my belief.

Give the the kid a place in the world cup squad and he can only grow. What is great is that he can play both 10 and 12, but his best position is 10.
Steppie seems to play better when he has Pollard at 10 and William Small smith at 13.
Our flyhalf stocks are looking good at the moment. I know that they are not everybody favorite
1. Morne Steyn (Made 365 team of the week, short term, Meyers choice)2. Lambie (has experience on his side, injured at the moment)3. Pollard (Up and coming, should the primary 10 after the world cup)4. Goosen (to injury prone and need to get tougher, going off to France )5. Boshoff (Coming on well, needs to develop further but good squad player)6. Jantjies (Fallen ouf of favour, not sure if he'll get back to the top)
This list will probably change again in 3 months time but this is my take on it.

Jantjes doesnt look like he will make it but lets see. Has he the head for the job?
Jean Louis Potgieter is one of the more complete flyhalves we have. Under rated.

Pollard is already ten times a better flyhalf than Morne Steyn will ever be. I think he should be in the Bok squad for the RC and is likely to be the top flyhalf in 2015.

I would like to see a good young scrummie palying for the Boks a bit and gaining experience. Faf and reinanch are good attacking scrummies. Reinach is briliantly quick. FAF IS A DYNAMO. Pienaar is far too passive and avoids taking on the opposition.
Du Preez is still could but we also want a scrummie(S) who with poses a significant threat on attack.
A very good Bok backline could be put together.

I would even at this early stage say that the following backline would be dynamite:-
15 Willie le Roux - back up Lambie14 JP Pietersen - back up Mvovo13 Damian de Allende12 Jean de Villiers - back up Serfontein11 Bryan Habana19 Handre Pollard - back up Goosen9 Cobus Reinach - back up Faf de Klerk.
You will have playmakers all over the show and not the robots anymore. The present scrummies are both only kicking and passing - no more attacking plays - and they have some defense deficiencies as well.

It is a pity Goosen is heading off to France. I would set him adrift and not include him in future bok plans until he returns home to play for a local team. He is 21, madness to think that he is heading off at such a young age. Probably knows that his playing days are numbered and needs to cash in.
I think my flyhalves would be for the next couple of years would be
Lambie (Short term)Pollard (Fade him into the starting role)Boshoff (Backup, but needs to get use to bok setup)Jantjies as an outside backup

actually goosen IMO made the correct move, by moving to france he can cash in on all the money up for grabs and still be selected for the Boks, cos of the Boks overseas selection policies.
this trend is going to get worse, IMO lady elizabeth (who is on maternal leave giving birth to his first child) will not resign with the stormers next time round either.
the future of SAs local teams are in dire straits cos of SARUs and it was never that impressive to begin with, unless 3 super rugby titles in 18 years is impressive,

Mike your selection of backs is about right. JP is also a center. Jordaan is a consideration at cneter and wing and JJ on the wing. Lets hope JJ's career hasnt been ruined by palying center and folk forgetting hw good he was on the wing.
Agree with Blikkies. Pull the world Cup squad from the Currie Cup. Work on conditioning etc. The go on tour with a fresh squad and light up the rugby world.

I do not really like Pietersen as a center. He is not playing the game like a center should - both in defense and attack. He is at best a stand-in center.
I think Meyer is on the right path by calling up Jordaan into the squad. After all eh his the best defending center in Super 15 and probably one of the best attackers as well - provided he gets the ball and not play outside of Fransie.
