Lets take a few players that you have constantly criticized and belittled over the past year and moaned about endlessly:-

Marcel Coetzee

Only last week you said he is not test material and he will weaken the team.  No how many eggs all over your face you have now?

Lood de Jager

When Saffex and I said this guy has a great future - you went ballistic and said you saw nothing worthwhile and that he is not a test quality player.   What now?

Jan Serfontein

He was very good both in attack and defense today - so I suppose I must order some egg stain remover to get you to clean yourself up.

Just for your info I will put a few stats on the site comparing your favourites with some of the youngsters today:-

Marcel Coetzee

Coetzee2/1100/3/1527002211/00/000/0

Alberts0/000/1/10901009/00/000/0

I know Mozart's argument is that Coetzee is an opensider and Alberts a blindisder, but Coetzee can also play at 7.   However, to even things out a bit I used the stats for the first test against Wales to show how massive the difference is between the other loosies and Plank Alberts.

Burger also had a very good game today and he is surely twice as good as Alberts is in any event.

Lood de Jager

de Jager2/1100/1/958100019/15/000/0

Matfield0/000/2/2100119/06/010/0

Botha0/000/0/4300010/01/000/0

In the case of Botha I used the 1st Welsh test and in the case of Matfield todays test.

In terms of the above figures - can there be any real justification for retention of Matfield and Botha in teh Springbok team when Etzebeth comes back?

Please note too that in The first Welsh test De Jager played for  40 minutes only and fgot through more work than Matfield fif in 80 minutes.

Handre Pollard

Pollard0/0136/9/62303028/10/000/0

Steyn0/01310/21/6500023/20/000/0

teyn0/0118/15/71602028/00/000/0

Pollard today showed today that he has more ball sense and skills in reading of the game than Morne has shown ever over the past four years.

If the Scots were not up to it - what about Matfield - he should have shown more than he did today.   The same applies to some other experienced players.  Why leave it to the youngsters to show the way to the older players?

Puleeze....process stuff from Coetzee and Steppie who missed 4 tackles and averaged 4 metres a run. Lood had a dominant game, but who did he dominate? The jury remains out. As for Pollard I called him the next Bok flyhalf while you were still fixated on Lambie and Goosen....Oompie.

So what Michael is saying is that Serfontein's successful showing against the weakest opposition for him this year, where the Bok pack totally dominated from start to finish proves Mozart is always wrong? I don't know what adjective to ascribe to this; warped, deluded, insane, dishonest, autistic? You tell me.

Also, take the senior players out of the equation and you will have 2000-2003 all over again. Anyone who thinks this Scotland side were worthy opponents is fooling themselves rather too convincingly for their own good. They were so poor I would have preferred a weeks rest for the players! Yes, the Boks put them away, great that they showed ruthlessness, but they were never under any threat whatsoever.

Apologize Oom.
In the backs the JJ / Serfontein tide is going out....it's on to the next wave.Pollard looks good, Esterhuizen has superb physical credentials. Develop these guys. In the meantime HM has given Hendricks his chance. I rate this guy and I hope it works out.

Lets forget about 2003-04 and think about 2010-11.  In 2003-04 you said that inexperienced players cost us dearly - in 2010-11 it was the experienced players that let us down badly.  These selfsame experienced players are now punted by you 3 years later - what makes them better in 2014 than they were in 2010 and 2011?
Sorry - but this hang up on players who were shown up badly already earlier as being way past there best does not convince me that they should be retained in 2014 and 2015.   I am for retention of experienced players who show that they can still perform - but I also think that retention of players based on reputation only without proven performance is absurd.

You remain a fool with a hang up on older players.
" Lood had a dominant game, but who did he dominate? "
In the Welsh first test De Jager came on and played the whole of the second half.  He was a heck of an improvement on Bakkies Botha in that test and was in that 40 minuts better than Matfield as well.
Matfield played as his lock partner yesterday against the same opposition and dominated nothing.   Matter of fact he showed that his ball carries were weak - even against weak opposition.
I would rather have a lock that the opposing team needs three players to tackle while he still goes forward - than a lock that is brought straight down by the first defender he comes up against.
Process stuff from Coetzee and Serfontein?   How come a player like Alberts is even incapable of performing "process stuff"?
I am not saying that Serfontein should replace De Villiers at 12 - I am merely saying that your constant and mostly unjustified attacks on him is bullshit - he is good enough as a back-up player for De Villiers.

All those comments are still there to be found OOm if you weren't such a dolt. What you will find is the only question I raised was whether it was better for Pollard to start off the bench...turned out Scotland was so weak, this wasn't as challenging as a S 15 game. I was the first poster to single out Pollard among the young fly halves....you were still a Lambie and Goosen man
As for Coetzee and Steppie. They are perfectly adequate under studies. But they are not permanent answers to our 12 and open flank requirements. How many balls did Coetzee turn over today against a weak team...none, that was left to Bismarck, Vermeulen and Schalk.

But while we are about it...what about your derogatory comments about Schalk and JP, the MOM. Trust the dumbass to be telling us JP has failed at 13, only for him to turn in an authoratative performance

Oh yes...and how about that Marcel scrumming power huh...I told you this guy can't scrum.
But say thanks for raising all those issues.

I credited Schalk with a  very good performance yesterday - he was denfinitely a vast improvement on Alberts and said that from the beginning.
I still think that Pietersen was extremely lucky to get the MOM.   Unfortunately the commentators looked at only two issues and his defense problems was ignored.
Pietersen1/251/3/54322014/20/000/0
A 33.3% missed tackle ratio is just not good enough.   I never said anything about Pietersen other than to say he is a wing not a center.  That has been proved again yesterday.
As to the scrumming - I do not think that the situation is acceptable and said so clearly in a separate posting.   I did not comment on Van der Merwe's scrumming - I just commented on his weight issue.   I also queried the performance of Oosthuizen as a loose head.  He has not scrummed as one for two years and it showed badly yesterday.   I would also say he is a back up scrummer - not a starter - even on tight head.
Janne is not that good either - he barely stood his ground yesterday as well - so it is back to the drawing board for  Meyer in this case.   I think that the core props are Beast, Malherbe and Du Plessis - the latter as a back up for Malherbe.  The answer as a back up loose head is more difficult and I think Meyer needs to look at other options than he has at present.  Maybe the Lions loose head. Kitshoff  or Ferreira are better options.

Jannie has often let the Sharks down in the scrumming this year - count the number of scrum penalties he collected thuis year in Super 15.
I am not saying he needs to eb replaced by Marcel van der Merwe - have never even suggested it - so maybe you should ask Saffex that question.

Just one other thing - your constant moans about Serfontein is definitely not justified.   I agree about JJ and think he is really on the way out 0 he had his opportunities and fluffed it.  However, we are very thin at 13 - Jaqcue Fourie is defnitely not the answer as well.
What is clear and has been proven in Super 15 already - is that Serfontein is 10 times the center Francois Steyn is at present.   In any event - I do not think with his latest shenanigans and his poor center perfo rmances for the Sharks - he really is a consideration anymore - Meyer is not going to easily forgive him for that one.
I think the center combination for the CR would be De Villiers and De Allende - with Serfontein on the bench.

If JP is available the centre combination should be Jean/ JP with de Allende on the bench. But just for the record....if I was playing NZ I would far rather have Frans at 12 than Serf.

Why - because Steyn is slower than Serfontein and miss more tackles?

I am always baffled.  You want huger backline players with physicality as virtually the only norm - yet when it comes to locks you do not require physicality at all. Ex planation please.

Steyn can offload...Steppe dies with the ball after an inside step. Hooper would feed off that. Fran's can also put in a big enough hit to get turnovers.

Steyn cn off-load - but in 5 months of playing at Super 15 - he off-loaded two balls.  He can - but does he?   His big enough hits are basically also in his supporters minds - it is as rare as hen's teeth.
Certainly the theory does not help - practical examples do.   I am afraid that on the whole Steyn's defense at center was ridiculously poor and in attack he was the turnover king in ball possession losses.  He definitely lost possession ten times more than he made off-loads.
Go and consult the stats for a change - and maybe that would show up what Syeyn really was about.
Incidentally we had Steyn at center in the CR in 2012  and he failed badly - what will now be different?

You apparently completely missed the fact that I had serious arguments with Sasue about JJ's defense before he was even selected to play for the Springboks - you were a late comer there.  I pointed out specifically his lack of defense in the Bulls - Crusaders game in 2012 as an example.  Saffex nearly had a fit about it.
I dd defend JJ twice - after the Ellis Park test - because of your befuddled ideas about his responsibility for tries being scored because of him and pinpointed the fact  that Morne Steyn was responsible in two cases as well.   The other case where I differed from you was a dubious and unsubstantiated statement made by you that De Jognh dragged him 5 meters every time he tackled him in a Storrmers vs Bulls game last year.
I do not like false statements on players - but that does not mean that I supported his selection.  I wonder how many times I expressed on this site reservations about JJ's apparent lack of attacking abilities and defense?   Probably more times than you did.  So you did not persuade me of anything at all - try Saffex in that case - not me . .

I dislike generalizations very much. A person must see what impact issues have on games - as a whole. I have also often had misgivings on defence of Enegelbrecht - but looking at his value at 13 must be a balance between attack and defence. A player like Conrad Smith for years was not the soundest defender around - but excellent on attack - which was his strong point - defence a weaker point in his armoury. It still makes Smith a top 13 - why is it different in the case of Engelbrecht?.

You missed the point - I have no problems with Engelbrecht's defence in general - but do have a problem with Basson as a weak defender. The combination could result in serious crucial lapses - with Engelbrecht getting part of the blame. Really it is not bullshit - in Super 15 Engelbrecht in some games did have some problems in defence - so whether you like it or not - it is part of his game that has to improve to remove all doubts about it.

Perhaps it was the first game where he had a bit of space. With space he is a clinical finisher. Against tight defences he isn't one of your battering and offload runners like Steyn.....but a team needs a mix and having an elusive 13 outside a strong 12 is sound. As for him not being a Bok, unlike Wynand Olivier, he has already played good tests.

And unlike JJ,  who you apparently like.....he can tackle. Engelbrech is a big guy with pace and a step. But in modern centre play, if you can't tackle every time....you will lose matches. Watch out on Saturday.

Go back further - don't nitpick comments from many made by me.  Go back and find the arguments I had in 2012 with Saffex about Engelbrecht and also what I said about his defense in all cases.   You are making a fool of yourself and making allegations that is really unsubstantiated.
In any event this has nothing to do with JJ - it has to do with Serfontein and your all to obvious bias against him.
If you can prove a point factually - then you have a point - if you cannot prove your allegations then you are foolish to write unsubstantiated rubbish on this site.

Faggot's always been a fool ... it's just gotten worse as his brain's rotted away due to age sneaking in.

Me thinks he's having difficulty dealing with his age and so we've been inundated with the nonsense of the elderly being worthy of selection.

Serfontein impressed me. He's definitely picked up some confidence and seems more at home with the Boks than he has been so far. I hope Meyer doesn't stuff it up by giving Jean the 12 jersey back.

Loodt was awesome. Bringing Etsebeth in at 5 will make for a fantastic lock pair. They'll dominate the world for many a year.

Pollard is a professional. I believe we now finally have the 10 we've been waiting for.  Long may he reign.

Mvovo was his usual busy self. A great super rugby season has now spilled over into the test arena.

Still not keen on JP at 13. We have better in Jean, De Allende, Sithole and Jordaan. Wake up Mr Meyer!!

Also don't like Hendriks. He was nowhere on Saturday ... even this hapless Scots side kept him subdued. You have to spoon feed him. No room for baggage in Bokke.

Coenie isn't a tighthead's backside and having watched him at 1 leaves me without any doubt that he isn't Bok material. Time to discard this man and bring in the likes of Schalk vd Merwe or even play Marcell or Trevor at 1.

Even though the Scots were awful, we certainly looked a lot better than Faggot's and his Doos' geriatrics.

There's hope for the Bokke ... as many of us have been saying ... just a matter of Meyer joining in and doing his job properly ... for a change.

No answer to my questions on Morne?
Anyway Francois  Steyn hardly played any games for the Sharks last year before Plumtree realized he was poor and booted him out of the starting line up.   This year he had the worst attacking and defensive record of any 12 in any  SA franchise.
Lets explain - he never once playing at center made a line break, he never scored a try and he missed more tackles than any other center playing for any of the franchises in SA.   He also have the disgusting record of handing over possession and being penalized more than any other 12 in all teams playing in Super 15.
That puts him in a special niche of causing a complete breakdown in the Sharks backline.   White allowed him too much and he tried to throw his weight around with Meyer as well.   Bad news - that one.
