Apparently Dobson made the following comment on Willemse goping to play for Saracens if not selected for the Springboks WC squad;-

"According to Western Province coach John Dobson, Damian Willemse is still playing for a place in the Springbok squad for the World Cup, but if he doesn't make the group there is a silver lining for the talented former South African Schools flyhalf.

Dobson told SuperSport.com that if Willemse doesn't get into the national group that heads to Japan in a couple of weeks, he'll be heading to English club Saracens"

Dobsoin would not make the above comments if there was no chance that Erasmus would select Willemse to be in the squad.   It is likely that if Willemse plays well for WP this week that he will be considered for inclusion ahead of the useless Frans Steyn.

That would be a real strengthening of the team  since Jantjies is not a reliable flyhalf back-up player,     .

Should benefit Willemse and bring out his potential.

Jantjes played well enough in the rugby Championship, give him some credit!

He is not ready for test rugby. Let him go abroad and develop under the superior guidance of the NH coaching system. Saracens is a great place for him.

When you, Mozart and Pakie claims he si not ready for test rugby - believe the exact opposite,   If you believe Steyn can still play test rugby - you must be kidding.

Willemse is a much better player than Frans Steyn is and that is why I hope he gets into the squad ahead of Steyn - who was hopeless in  all the tests he appeared in this year,    Norte I say appear in - not play in. .

Well he was a zero in the Junior WC and a year later he has played limited rugby, mostly at fullback. We really ought to question the logic of wanting this kid as a WC flyhalf option, when he couldn't crack that position at the Stormers.

Mozart

Dimness - wake up - Willemse played less than a game in the Junior WC when he was injured - so on what do you base your BS this time around.

No Mozart - he played at FB on the request of Erasmus and not because the Stormers wanted it, Again the BS flows freely in your case.

Oh sure.....the Stormers desperately wanted to play him at flyhalf......and then, this hilarious, they approached HM in France and he told them to play him at fullback You really are funnier than the Three Stooges!

Sorry Mozart

The request was made by Erasmus - nobody could ever approach Meyer for advice on players - he did not know enough about performance evaluation and game plans to provide reliable info.

Willemse is only 21. He has plenty of time and should not rush.
Goosen was rushed before he was physically ready for the demands of the open division- and then picked up lots of injuries early on.
Willemse obviously has lots of skill, a bit like Jantjies but more physical - even at only 21. His flyhalf play needs to develop- and going to the UK where tactical kicking is a bigger part of the game may help him develop his tactical game.
In his games at flyhalf for the Stormers he was ok, but so far looks much better in space. His games for the Boks have been average so far.
Elton Jantjies brings more to the table at this stage.

He looks much better to me at fullback. His best bit of rugby for the Boks was at 15. Against England, at Twickenham, Rassie gifted both Damian and Willemse a glut of possession. It was Willemse's opportunity to show what he can do in the absence of Willie. He couldn't do it. I don't think he'll ever be that kind of player, the general and director of play. I just don't see that in him. From 15 he could grow into a solid starter. He stands his best chance up north in my opinion. They'll proactively work on him, the rest is in his hands.

It could be of help if he does go to Saracens, but I think by Monday he would be in Bloemfontein.  We need him in the WC instead of the miserable Steyn who is not playable on test level.

An you saw that in the case of - let me think -  Morne Steyn?    LMAO

Erasmus is bound to be watching the CC game this afternoon in Bloem and my guess is  Willemse will remain in Bloem after the match and join the Springbok squad.   It is clear that Erasmus would have called him up already - but he needs game time after his injury break and that is why he is s till not called up to the squad.
