As per normal the pre-season matches produced very little if importance - but there are some  interesting comments nonetheless:-


*   Pity - but Arno Botha suffered a serious knee injury that is likely to keep him playing during this season.


*   Goosen was top quality in the Cheetahs game  - and he is one to watch out for this season.


*   Matfiekd came on for 20 minutes - made in tackle and nothing more was reported.


*   Minnie got carded - but that is standard practice in his case


*   Kolisi and Boom Prinsloo shined as openside flanks

 Jesse Kriel scored a try as well, one to watch when he plays! 
Jaco Kriel also a handy little player.
Lions look to have a better team than when they were last in Super rugby, but best to wait and see how they deal with the Aussie and Kiwi teams. 
I haven't really heard anything on Goosen's performance bar the brief synopsis of the match by Rugby365, did he really play well?

Goosen relies very heavily on the patterns the Cheetahs run. He is not a player to think on his feet or sum up situations, not yet at least. In fact, the Cheetahs work off the ball is the real key to success. Goosen is not the saviour, the structures are. We must not deny the backline coach the credit he deserves in making the machine greater than the sum of it's parts.

Agreed, Arno Botha looked very promising last season. I would love to see more of him for the Boks.

Your take on Goosen is very poor, it's up there with Beeno's take on Matfield........its a load of rubbish
