Before we get underway here is a chance to predict the SA player of the year. If there is any interest I'll  maintain a list.

My choice for this year is Pat Lambie. As I said in the Sharks thread, I think he is at the stage of his career where he will emerge as a key Bok. Making his kicks up north and maintaining his cool to help deliver a winning YE tour will show in his confidence.

This is a very rugby smart kid with a level head and an ability to take pressure. And he is very competitive as his impatience with mistakes demonstrates. Anything Goosen throws at him will spur him to better performances.

My guess is by the end of 2013 he will be our undisputed number one flyhalf and the player who will keep the 10 berth through the RWC.

Etzebeth for me - bigger and stronger this year, plus he will now play with the added confidence and authority that he belongs at the highest level

dont think it will be ezebeth, he will be targated now that people are aware of two things, (1) hes a great player and (2) hes a firecracker who hasnt shown any rugby sense to date to say thats going to change, much like bakkies the awesome penalty magnet he was during his career.

my pick for best SA player, or player in the SA conference will be daniel adongo from the kings.

marcel coetzee wouldnt be too far behind either, love that dudes workrate, though players will be more awre of him too this time round.

but then again, 2013 also marks the return of the greatest saffa rugby player ever in luke watson and hes going to have a lot to prove as he strives to unite SA as only he can, -_o

Sasue

Come now Sasue - be serious for a change or are you just needling?   Watson - you must be joking here.  There is zero chances for Luke to make the Springbok side and the Player of the year will have to be playing on Springbok level as well.

There is a difference between Botha nd Etzebeth  - the latter was a clever kid at school abd had excellent results - th former could not even pass Grade 10 - a really dense top storey.   Wizebeth will know that pplayers will tryand needle him and he will not react to rubbish - so penalty mahie he will not be.  Unlike reid and McCaw - the real penalty machines - he would have intelligance and muscles on his side - he is awedoely strong.

Marcel has a good chance of making it this year - but I still stick with Etzebeth - must bethe 8/10 favourite.   The shrewd monay could even be on Jordaan - I bank on him to score major points in Super 15 Fantasy.
