Open to debate:

Cook
Markram
Hash (his best position by far)
Faf
AB
Bavuma
QdK
Vern
Maharaj
Rabada
Abbott

Notes:

  1. This team has 5 players of color inculusing 2 darkies
  2. Maharaj over Shamsi - Theory is that, against Sri Lanka, we need a containing spinner, whilst the quicks chip away at the wickets.
  3. Markram - He is the future of our batting. Prodigeous talent and also a proven leader (won the U19 World Cup - with Rabada. Also leading run scorer)
  4. With QdK at 7, Vern at 8 and Maharaj at 9, all of a sudden we have REAL depth in our batting.
  5. Cook will come right. He proved his metal in the last test vs Oz. He knows his game well enough to score the "ugly" runs. He also adds some fight up front.
  6. The middle order picks itself.
  7. i've lost patience with the promise of Duminy. Keep him for the ODI's. He is wasting our time in the Test 11.

Cook (technically flawed and getting on but hard to drop him)
Markram (not knowing) I think they'll stick with Elgar
Hash
Faf
AB
Bavuma QDK
QdK Bavuma
Vern
Maharaj Shamsi (for the CT test) Morkel (for the Test at altitude)
Rabada
Abbott
Told ya the Gits would be back...did I not!?

 @Den
I feel that QdK is more adept to helping the lower order.
Bavuma, though he has shown his capabalities, i feel we'll get more out of him at 6.

I do think that Denny is right here - De Kock should move up the order to at least 5 - if not higher.   He can easily run of partners when he is too low in the batting.
I like the Aidan Markham selection as an opener.   Some new blood is necessary and to blood him against SriLanka in SA is to my mind a good move.   His stats look good and compared to for instance Elgar:-
Aidan Markham
MatInnsNORunsHSAveBFSR100504s6sCtStFirst-class24373152718244.91249261.274622415220
Dean Elgar
First-class13423121910926843.371839849.512732113952990
The batting average and strike rate is important and I do not think to replace Elgar would disrupt the team.
I must admit that I think on test level Duminy is a weak link in the batting line-up - too  many failures and too few successes.

He can easily run out of partners? Not if he makes 5.

'Then you may understand anything'....is that the same as 'then you may not understand everything'? Toklish is a funny language.

It's not his role to help the lower order, his role is to put the blowtorch to a tiring attack.Besides it would impede his free flowing style if he is constrained by the lower order...hell, it's hard enough having to worry about his own game.

Sorry CC, i cant help chatting about the old bat and ball.

How's your mum been treating you recently?
Hope you don't mind all the time she's been spending with me!

Your mum and I have a lot in common with cricket you know...
When I see her, its very difficult keeping my shiny balls off the bat, ya know!

...why are you such an a-hole?
we were all having a lovely conversation until you brought your foul faced being here!

Quinton must not bat at 7. Lowest is 6 but 5 is ideal.

We all know about your struggle with the dreaded droop, Chop.
Hell of a thing when it's only use is to piss out of.
Have you given your new toy a name yet?

 Chippo
Interesting invitational team to face the Tamil Tigers. I see your bloke Markram as well as Bevan Fortuin and Jason Smith have made the side.....lots to look forward to.
