Good news in Durban that Pieter is staying. Sharks have pulled an Ace out there sleeve there. This Youngster will be a great one day and a pairing with Eben will have the Springboks riding high. Strangely though, Eben is the only tight five Bok in WP, prehaps he should look at a move.
PSDT Bucks Bulls advances and stays with the Sharks
I'm just pleased he didn't go to the Bulls.
Mr Lightyear - who do you support?
Be advised that your next response will make or break any potential friendship we may have ... so choose your words carefully.
Kapeesh??
As a Bulls fan I am not so delighted to hear this. ; )
Anyway can't wait to see him regain full fitness, like mike stated we need him and Eben in the CR.
Buzz from which source did you hear the news
I have been a Sharks fan ever since i was a twinkle in my dads eye ! ( do i shield my head now with my arms as the Forum goes mad ? )
Mike , I dont think Pieter will feature for the Boks this year, i would expect him to become a more prominant player as of next year. With Wentzel coming to Durban i expect him to be schooled well and given real insight, not to say the Bulls couldnt offer him that, but i think he will be made a key member and things built around him.
Bok -bef$k...its all over twitter and the Sharks website
The Sharks are pleased to announce that Pieter-Steph du Toit has reaffirmed his commitment to The Sharks by re-signing for a further two years.
John Smit, The Sharks CEO stated, “Pieter-Steph has shown great promise and he has had a positive impact on the team since joining the senior set-up. We are thrilled that he has reaffirmed his commitment to The Sharks.”
The Sharks Commercial Manager, Rudolf Straeuli added, “We are delighted to have secured the signature of a player of the calibre of Pieter-Steph. We not only identified him, but he has also been developed through The Sharks Academy. He has a bright future ahead of him.”
Pieter - Steph said, "As a twenty year old rugby player I am living my dream and I am extremely privileged to be identified by The Sharks as a player who can play a role in the province going forward. I will continue to learn from the many experienced players in our team and I hope that I can make the contribution required and expected of me. I will work as hard as I can and always do my best for The Sharks."

BUZZ, MY MAN!!!
HOWZIT BROE!!!!
WELCOME TO THIS BOARD!!!!
Well thats a relief.
Mike , I would suggest that we need to mange the lad instead of just throwing him in during the RC, he will only get a few drips of Currie Cup rugby and we need to be sure he is conditioned correctly. Prehaps end of year he will feature but RC I dont see him starting. prehaps bench , but that would be a stretch.
I agree that PSTD should not be thrown in the deep end too soon. Give Marco Wentzel some time to work with him and sort him out. In Wentzel, I believe that the Sharks has the second best line-out coach in available in SA, and I am not being windgat because I am a Bulls supporter. I really do rate Marco Wentzel. The Sharks made a very sharp move in getting him into the mix, and had it nor been for the fact that Marco will be with the Sharks, I would have said it was a daft move by Du Toit move not to go to the Bulls and have to opportunity to work with Victor Matfield.
I found Mallets comment earlier this year quite interesting where he predicted that Du Toit would be injured before the end of the season.
He said that Du Toit was playing hopelessly too much rugby and that his young body, especially the size of it, was still maturing and wasn't being given sufficient rest to cope with the intensity of Super Rugby week in week out..
Next thing ... he was injured ... as predicted
I reckon this lay off would do him the world of good, based on Malletts comment.
I would have said that consideration by all parties like Venter as Director of Rugby, Smit as CEO and the coaching set up would have done their homework on Wentzel before making this move. He will take a lead as a more coachig type bit part player Saffex. Dont write off this move.
Common, Dave ... obviously Wentzel is to be brought in as a coach and not as a player.
Thought that much was clear.
Dave is not know as one with very high regard for hard facts. Wentzel was brought in for the CC only, whereafter he will become involved in coaching.
