Im going to put it on the record early that aussies are very long odds to beat EJ's pom team...

Last 6 games Aus have lost to poms in rugby (unlike just about every other sport) shows the dire state of the code here... sadly this RWC and farcical reffing / admin / citing has done nothing to assist the code in Aus... a slow death awaits - thanks to raelene what an awesome job... can you pls be deported now...

Poms will get up to make SF is my opinion... vs... well? this is the question... if the sneeky japanee can get typhooned out - guessing means they will play SAF and IRE to play kiwis... the latter of which is mouth watering affair... this IRE team time and again have defeated the kwis and show they have the game style to take it to the kiwis...

interesting weeked of weather... and not rugby ahead...

The English forwards will smash the Wallaby tight five.  Your tight five is not international standard, simple as.
The only chance for the baby k angaroos is to dominate the breakdown with the Pooper combo, and spread the ball wide to tire the Poms who will not be used to running around in the hot temperature.
I give Australia 25% chance.

for me its like 10% chance... and that if aussies have a good day...

second half v wales the aussie forwards smashed the welsh completely... i dont think its the forward rather the general lack of ball hadnling skills...

tell me another 1st tier nation that has as many drop balls as the wallabies... (saffas close 2nd btw)...

the exception is when the ball sticks that they can flog the kiwis by record margins like in perth....

the other hairbrain idea that robs aussies of good forwards is their ineligibility if they play in NH. Will Sketon has dominated NH comp this year... but... ARU and their brilliant leadership decided hes not eligible... go figure that geniusness... esp because the depth of rugby players in aus....  raelenne is a top shelf moron goth kiwi ..............ughhh

Mo mentum is a two-way thing in rugby, by that I mean forwards and backs. Australia generate momentum through their backs. If you can keep their backs in check, their forwards struggle. If they start getting over the gainline through their backs, their forwards, especially their backrow, become significantly more effective. Cheika has to be smart about their selections, as they tend to favour "creative" players who drift/crab, which makes penetrative attacking rugby much more difficult. That means no Beale, no Genia. They are a threat. In a single minute a team can run through many phases from end to end. Give Australia a little time on the ball and things can change quickly. They have a strong lineout, the strongest in the SH. England are favourites, and rightly so, but Australia can hurt them. The England pack is not the monster of old, but their line speed is devastating. By quite some distance the best defence in world rugby, but Australia can now carry it right up the gut, and that opens up the wider channels. It will be an interesting encounter. Hopefully we get to see the QF, Typhoon Tororu permitting.

@Redsman: You overestimate the Aussie defence that day. The Welsh were very effective in controlling the contact point, which included ball presentation. In fact, it was quite remarkable how effortlessly the Welsh got clean ball. Wales were definitely the more impressive team.

some interesting insight there augen... I've probably never looked at it that way ie backs used to gain fwd momentum... it is historically the aussie strength...

re wales game... the first half / from the first hit up was pathetic...

Incidentally it was in the second half as soon as ausies got go fwd ball from Toomua off the bench that the fwds started smashing the breakdown and created momentum..

Welsh game / ref management was far better ie 5mins to pack a scrum with 7mins left on clock... so yes in this sense they were 'impressive'... although boring rugby...

Poms are definitely favourites for this and rightly so... and having sat through countless wallaby defeats to poms..... I dont think that the aussies will be able to contain this pom team... of course the more the poms go into this thinking aussies are easy beats the better....

simply put though the aussies still drop the ball way too much for a professional national rugby team....

Boy do you have it in for NZ.

Lets be totally honest here - You don't really know anything about the AB's / New Zealand / Kiwis at all do you???????

The only things your comments smack of:

Envy

And a very sour attitude

Rugby_L I see your new alias and suspect yet another existing kiwi under a pretend name... obviously not too much of a life like 2re(Tard)ed... so you got to pretend to be someone you're not... so sad... for you...
Out of interest if you are only new to the forum - what in this post has any relevence to nz other than me stating that Ireland has got the kiwis measure... how is this not supported by fact...
Anyway boring night of rugby thanks to the weather... hopefully ireland do play kiwis in the QFs as they will probably beat them...
