In Die Volksblad is a statement by Quade Cooper about his visits to SA.  He loves the place and is apparently addicted to biltong.   He knows a kiosk at Bloemfontin airport where he goes every time to buy it and then shared it with his mates.  He also came up with a story that meat in SA   is tastier than in Australia - but I think it is the way they prepare food here that makes the difference.   Whilst visiting Perth I went to Rotnes Island on a trip and a meal was served there and part of the organized trip.  I ordered curry and rice and the food was absolutely tasteless - the English method of cooking without salt made it tasteless.   Also in Perth on a visit to a wine estate - a meal was served and the mutton was tough as hell.  The Aussies should really get some cooks from SA to teach them basic lessons about food preparation.    In any event - I hate Kentucky Fried Chicken - but ate it once in Australia and it was bloody horrible.

SA Biltong is the best... (further more if someone wants to point me website where I can buy some best of the best to send over....???) re food in Aust - Unfortunately a lot of best quality beef / other prodcue get exported so yes... we do miss out on good local food.

Tassie is the best for food in Australia followed closely by Melbourne... reason Melbourne so good is because of very high ethnic population...

As you can see from QCs comments - he doesnt have an agenda and the kiwis victimise this poor kid becuase hes talented and kneed richie accidentally in the head once.... It also shows his comments re Toxic environemnt under coach deans would no doubt be striaght out fact.

Hey redsman, I don't know how easy it would be to get biltong to Aus, because the only stuff that can be transported is the pre-packed stuff and that is full of preservatives. The best biltong is fresh off the drying rack. I guess it can be frozen, but that is just not the same. It is not hard to make biltong, so I'd suggest getting a good recipe and doing it yourself. Maybe you could import one of the pre-packed biltong spices from SA and do the rest yourself.

Beef Biltong is freely available in Sydney and so also is a variety of Boerewors. I'm told the Biltong is made in QLD so I can't see why the Redman can't lay his hands on it, there has to be shops in Brisbane selling the stuff. South African population in Brissie is pretty big so I guess the popularity of the meat would be a given.

Mike, I can't understand why you would order a curry of all dishes on God forsaken Rottnest Island...Hell, I wouldn't even order a curry in surburban Sydney....and oh by the way, the world reknown Kentucky Chicken is American not Aussie.....and yes it's "finger licking good" to coin the phrase.
