When you make a withdrawal on your bank account....is there a % cost for the withdrawal?

Aaaaaaaaaaah ... is that why your so tearful these day?
Having financial difficulties? No money to buy the necessary axle grease, huh?
Try cooking oil. I'm sure it's a lot cheaper.

No fool, for starters you're not an Expat, we all know that you'd like to be but it will never happen. I feel your pain. Happy days stuck in good old Joey's huh? But that said everytime you make a withdrawal from your banking account in South Africa you are charged a percentage of the withdrawal.... I'm guessing that expats wherever they are located and Kiwis don't suffer the same.

Leaving at the end of June and starting off by visiting Portugal (2 locations) for 8 days then onto Spain as part of a tour group, then leaving the tour group with an extra week in Barcelona and another week split between Ibiza and Valencia. Allup a month.

End of June? Oh, I thought you were around the same time as me . . . 2nd to 18th June. Looks like I'll be back before you leave.

Our plans have changed slightly, we'd planned on doing the Camino walk together but as it stands my wife will be doing it on her own(120kms in 10 days Pheeww) so she'll be leaving 10 days earlier and I'll meet up with her in Madrid. All of it was planned for middle June...things change....that's life.
Where are you going?

No money that is brought into the country is subject to witholding. On the other hand there is a tax on any capital gains those funds may have generated.

Moz, I was thinking of day to day withdrawals, going by the experience I suffered on a recent trip to SA where I was charged a percentage on withdrawals. I'm just wondering if the public get charged for a withdrawal or if it's a practice applicable to expats only. Here in Oz we don't get charged for making withdrawals and I assume that in the States you wouldn't be either. I'm trying to work out whether they have different rules for expats versus the local public or whether it's a norm for the banks to charge the public a percentage on any withdrawal they make.

I have a non residential account with one of the Banks and I suspect that a withdrawal fee must only apply to the said account.
