I have no problem with your statement on 2009 - but in 2010 and 2011 he ebcame consistently worse as a coach and it is likely that Muir in particular nd Gold - who later on failed s the Sharks Coach were the support Snorre need and initially in 2008 and 2009 - but somehow that did not continue in 2010 and 2011.
Incidentally when Erasmus as Director of Rugby of the Stormers and Coetzee was Chief Coach of the franchise in 2008 to 2010 the Stormers did quite well in Super Rugby - when that relationship deteriorated the Stormers starts going backwards in leaps and bounds. It became really bad when Erasmus left the Stormers in 2012 and became SARU Director of Rugby.
In the latter case the relationship between Erasmus and Meyer did not appear to be iffy at best. They had two completely different approaches to coaching and team selection and I am not aware of any ways they co-operated. to the benefit of SA Rugby. When Coetzee was appointed as coach Erasmus publicly welcomed the appointment and approached Coetzee to restore the situation that was successful in 2008 and 2010 in the case of the Stormers and offer to work together. Coetzee turned dopwn the suggestion and departed for Ireland in 2016. Foreseeing the upcoming disaster - he insisted on a clause in his contract that Munster will release him from his contract with them should e have to return to SA nd help out the Springboks.
In January he was approached by Mrais and Roux - who pleaded with him to come back to take voer the coaching of the Springboks. Erasmus put three important conditions in his subsequent contract , which SRU accepted, namely -
* That he be appointed as Director of Rugby - where eh would be in charge of broader development of SA Rugby with the to be appointed coach will organisatonally fall under him with an additional promise that he would coach the Springboks until after the 2019 WC;
* That he would appoint the temporary coaching staff to assist him until the end of the WC - after which the coaching staff recommended by him shall be appointed to the coaching positions in the Coaching positions in the team on a permanent basis; and
* there shall be no selection committee and the selection fo players shall be the responsibility of the Director of Rugby together with the coaching set-up.\
those are the facts -not the fiction spread on this site. Erasmus has identified very able assistants and even arranged that oneof his assistants will operate from Dublin to monitor the performances of club players in Ireland, the UK and France and also liaise with them. Erasmus, Nienaber and Jones are clearly part of the final decision as to use of Club players playing in the NH. . .
