The 5 players of colour selected as part of the 20 forwards are all quotas ... including the elderly Beast who has had his ass handed to him by any and every decent tightherad this season.

We still have the useless Kolisi as our designated 6 and captain.

What a laugh.

I see Damien De Allende is not part of the mix ... instead we have the useless Mapoe brought in to make up the quota numbers. I wonder how many balls he's dropped this season?

I am stunned to see the match losing Jantjies still making the grade. Surely Rassie watched him play this season? He must be very desperate to make up the quota numbers.

What has happened t o Nkosi?

Mvovo ?? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!

Cronje and his loopy pass makes the squad. Wow!! What ever happened to Shaun Venter?

The less said about Am the better.

Glad to see Hamburger Nyakane missing out.

What a mess!!

Mapoe is a vastly better player than Damian. Mvovo, it's amazing how he still finds a place in the team. The Allende of wings, though Damian is by mature more of a wing. I had high hopes for him eight years ago. Physically he had everything. Looked like a real Bok wing. We can put a good pack together, but those backs are truly awful. Maybe 3 tests quality players.

That squad is made up of a large number of quota players who will never make any other international side.

I cannot see how Cronje and Jantjies could even be considered at this stage.   Am was useless recently and Mapoe is a joke in bad taste.   Mvovo is a never-has-been and his inclusion is also really funny.

As to the forwards - what the hell is Louw still doing in the squad.  There sis no breakdown specialists in the loosie combination and some of the lossies have butter-fingers.   Orie at lock  is a joke in bad taste too.

By the way I think Vermeulen ruled himself out of the series to play club rugby in Japan;  I think he should therefore be ruled out of contention - no player should be allowed to pick and choose when he is going to play and when not.

That is a squad made up of under-par quota players  and we must accept that the Springboks may beat the Pumas and loose the other four tests in the series.

Damian cannot perform one aspect of centre play to an adequate level. Mapoe has a better rugby brain, is much more of a centre. I'd play him ahead of Damian. We lose nothing. Furthermore, this has nothing to do with Frans. Damian is merely the worst centre I have ever seen. I have never seen a professional centre do the things he does. He is passive to the point of being clinically brain dead. Why do you back him so intensely? I just don't get it at all.

Mapoe can't catch a simple pass. The amount of times he's dropped the ball before the line is infuriating.

He was poor once again on Saturday and yet he makes the squad. WTF??

Mapoe doesn't have a rugby brain ... in fact he doesn't have a rugby anything. The only thing he brings to the park is his rooster comb when he manages to hang onto the ball.

He looked totally out of place on Saturday.

Simply useless.

Much rather have the useless De Allende. At least he can catch a ball.

I didn't say he was great (I never backed his transition to centre in the first place), but I do rate him higher than Damian. If you want a ruck cleaner, Damian is your guy. He can win some turnovers. That's the only thing he brings to the game. Sometimes. He is the most technically flawed centre I have ever seen. Would Mapoe defend with his back turned to his man? Or walk out of alignment and leave his channel exposed and pile pressure on the rest of the team? Or make those weird kicks out of nowhere into nowhere? I will say this though, Mapoe wasn't merely poor against the Saders, he was entirely invisible. I can't recall anything he did.

Rubbish!!

And what exactly does Mapoe bring to the pitch?

He is as poor on defense as De Allende is ... and brings nada on attack. De Allende can at least run right over the top of you and is difficult to bring down when he goes on his freight training runs.  In other words ... we at least get go forward out of him.

Mapoe creates nothing ... can't defend anything that isn't right in front of him ... goes to ground at the slightest touch ... and seems to be in the wrong position most of the time. He doesn't understand the first thing about center play ... much like JJ Engelbrecht and Jesse Kriel.

Rugby brain? What rugby brain? The amount of times he drops the ball has often made me wonder whether he thinks he's playing basketball.

Mapoe is a useless quota and should not be in the mix.

Damian's only attacking weapon is a strong leg drive through a tackler once targeting a weak shoulder. That's become less effective over the years. Running right over the top of opponents? That was said to be his thing, but Damian lacks the power to exert any authority head on. He is too weak. His distribution is poor and his sense of positioning the worst of all our centres. His ability to read the game is absolutely awful. He likes space, wants to beat you on the outside. He naturally leads to a more static and lateral game. He leaves his 13 isolated, on breakdown defence he ball watches and loafs around. Mapoe has basic skills and basic positional sense. He makes none of the structural issues Damian causes in ever game he plays. As I say, I'm not a fan of Mapoe. However, he is a better centre than Damian. Damian for some time was statistically the worst defensive centre in Super rugby, and at test level, has he landed one effective tackle? I can't recall one. He has directly affected the conceding of around 10 tries for the Boks, and affected the scoring of 2. This is a terrible return for the loyalty showed to him.

Just read Lurker's posts for entertainment - no rugby value at all.   He has a coach manual from which he quotes  regularly to appear as I he is knowledgeable, but he d oes not understand the practical implications so he goes bananas.

By the way he ranks Morne and Fat Fransie as rugby greats - so that is the level he can get to in his delusional condition.  .

Lurker

You would not recognize a technical flawed center or any other player - if it hits you in the face.  The reason is you like Mozart and Pakie have  pet hate players and in the process to denigrate those players you invent BS and would never accept proven facts.   That is basically dishonest.

When I said Fat F ransie is a BS center I have recorded facts to prove my point - you have elusions and falsified information you use.   That is the difference between practical consideration of incidents and BS you spread on site..

That's not the same Morne who stood so deep that he and the full back developed a special bond, is it?

Not that Morne who cost us the test against the Ozzies when he couldn't find touch, is it?

Not that Morne who had difficulty defending his channel, surely? The one who brought nothing to the pitch except his boot ... which by the way also backfired on him and subsequently caused us a lot of trouble at times.

Not that Morne?

Say it's not so!!!

Maybe he was talking about Morne Du Plessis.

What an awful squad.....we lose the absolutely useless Allende and get the slug Esterhozen. But at least Mapoe can make an open field tackle. That back tackle he made on Saturday was two steps above Allende's pay grade. Erasmus is inheriting the decline in our rugby talent. This has been going on since 2005 but hidden by the long lived excellence of White's Boks. HM correctly kept as much of that team together as he could and since that was no longer possible we have plunged horribly in the ratings. This squad has zero chance to win the RC, so we are playing for second again.

They made a massive contribution to our national team.

They were also very brave in their clash against Eddie and his potent Japanese side.

Well ... at least we took the bronze ... and wasn't Matfield the man of the match that day???

Unfortunately Rassie has slim pickings. Our once great player conveyor belt is no more. We don't have any test quality loose trio nor do we have any decent backs. Unfortunately all of promising youngsters are abroad. Unfortunately we have include quotas at youth level which then in return never step up to the provincial teams. How many of the quota baby BOKS are actually playing professional rugby. I never liked the idea of quotas. I always ask this question. How many of these players of colour is in demand abroad. Not many. Can't believe Jantjies is in there. At least willemse has some promise. But would play him at full back rather than thrusting him in at 10 during the championship.

That's not quite true, KingCorn.

Kolisi isn't a test standard loose forward ... and has no idea how to play on the openside ... I take it that you know that ... right?

We have a lot better and they're all available ... except Rassie shot himself in the foot by playing the hero. Now he's stuck with a quota at 6 ... and as captain ... and there's nothing he can do about it.

Kolisi was suppose to be the fill in captain till Whiteley returned. That was never going to happen. It amazes me that Rassie didn't realize what he had done by opening the door to this quota clown. Kolisi is here to stay boys. Come rain or shine.

Ecclesiastes 10 speaks of servants riding on horseback while Princes walk along side them.

The 6 jersey has been sold to a total retard and even the coach can't do anything about it. Haaaaaaaaaahahahahahaaa!!!

Just because Rassie selects these clowns doersn't mean we have no talent. They're all leaving our shores ... knowing full well that there is no future at home for them.

He has the anc's pecker in his hand and has no choice but to pucker up.

You apparently miss the Lurker preaching on how good Morne Steyn is.   His marvelous attacking play and getting the backline to function was unbelievably fluent.

The way he initiated  backline play and especially attacks were marvelous according to Lurker - obviously supported by Mozart was so far removed from reality I started to wonder whether Lurker and Co suffered from hallucination.

They must really p rovide info on the things they use to get t that level of imagination.

Clever Mike. You have nothing. You do have lies and twisted numbers. In fact, everything you have said, that I have read has been debunked. I don't understand why you keep harping on about Frans though. Do remember that, you keep bringing him up, not me! What I have done is temper your lies. I mean, I just made a mockery of your Sharks vs Stormers nonsense.

I'll say this, list how many effective tackles Damian has made for the Boks. Tell me exactly where and when. Now, tell me how many assists Damian has. How many tries has he contributed and compare that to how many tries he has directly let in.

As for Morné? Show me another South African 10 who is more successful. I already did an analysis of his Super rugby success where he contributed to more than 50% of the Bull's line breaks. Clever Mike lied through his teeth. Morné has the second most points in Bok history, holds many world, Super, Currie Cup, Test and Bok records. He has the second highest points per test ratio in Bok history, has the highest try ratio of Bok 10s, is statistically more defensively sound than Dan Carter. He has 2 Currie Cups, 3 Super Rugby titles, Lions Series, Tri Nations, Junior World Cup and French Championship. He was a key member of one of the highest powered offences in Super rugby history, and the most efficient in terms of linebreaks to tries. He also had a 77% retrieval rate of tactical kicks. However, I'm now told that I must believe he is the worst 10 in Bok history and all of world rugby. How ridiculous. Show me a better 10 who is South Africa  purely on the basis of their CV. I never said he was the most gifted or talented, but I did say that he made it count. Whether you like it or not, he is an all time Bok great.

I do believe Mapoe is the better centre. I don't rate either of them, but I rate Mapoe higher. Damian is to flawed to be considered a pure bred centre. There is no other centre that I have ever seen who has a weaker tactical understanding of the game. His awareness doesn't exist, his peripheral vision is so poor he may as well be looking through straws. Mapoe is the better attacker and defender. His support lines and timing are sharper and more accurate. Damian, however, is the better breakdown presence. One of the best backs in the world for that. How can you back a centre who has let more tries in than he has scored or assisted? A centre who has yet to land one solid tackle. This is madness.

Lurker

You are the one who wrote a report on how good Fatv Fransie was in 2015 when he was rated as the 32 rated center in Super Rugby and  how De Allende missed three tackles on him - and Fransie was marvelous on attack.

I am quoting the stats on that game to rove that you were lying as per normal.

de Allende 0/0 0 1/9/10 56 2 6 2 0 5/0 0/0 0 0/0Steyn 0/0 0 2/4/6 7 0 0 2 2 8/2 0/0 3 1/0

That was the stats of the match under discussion and is further confirming how utterly useless Fat Fransie in fact was.   He carried the ball 6 times for a 7 meter territory gain, - he made no line breaks - beat no defenders and off-loaded the ball and loss ball possession twice in that game - also giving away 3 penalties.   Pretty hopeless and you lied about how De Allende missed three tackles on him;

As to Morne there is nothing to argue about .   Morne was an accurate goalkicker and a shit flyhalf.

I don't rate De Allende ... at all ... but claiming that the useless Mapoe is the better of the two is totally absurd.

The only time Mapoe scores a try is when he's given the ball to fall over the line. Other than that, he creates nothing, his running lines are non existent so I'm really not sure what you're on about there ... he's a poor defender when faced with an approaching attacker ...  (any idiot can tackle from behind if he has a little pace) ... and as I've said before ... he has absolute no understanding of what centre play is all about.

If he had the simple basics of what a supporting player is supposed to do, we would see a lot more of him. He doesn't and as you said earlier ...

"Mapoe wasn't merely poor against the Saders, he was entirely invisible. I can't recall anything he did" ...

That is the most intelligent thing you've said all day.

Well the Tractor isn't the answer, he has lost too many games for the Boks without ever contributing to a win...nor is Esterhozen who seems to be affected by the same brain paralysis disease. Frans might have been good for one more season, but clearly the politics nobbled him before the Pom mirage. So we have plodders like Odendaal and Tokkie's big favourite Vorster the slowest centre in the Known Universe. Maybe the utterly ordinary Venter might have been a better choice. Or even the greatest centre Dave has ever seen except for JJ the inside-stepping Stepfontein Dyantyi to me remains a wing. Why can't we produce centres when a small country like Ireland produces so many......it's a mystery.....and one with no hint of a solution.

Well Mapoe had 6 runs for 5 metres.....but in the course of doing that he beat a tackle and made one clean break. It takes talent to get that all done in 5 metres. My guess is Am is probably Esterhozen's back up at 12.....with Mapoe heading for 13 as Fat Kriel's backup. So this isn't a choice between the two. And who is a better option.....Mike's hero Fat Viljoen ......or Dave's hero Ectomorph JJ. Give me a break
