Why do people never paste a website link to the stats, when quoting them from a 3rd party source?

The exact page and part of the page would be more reliable. Maybe a brief copy and paste of stats, with a link to the rest of the page for more detailed supporting stats

1. Many of these stats websites disagree with each other even marginally- some are more accurate than others.

2. If a poster wants their stats to be accepted as taken verbatim from an objective 3rd party stats website, this would add more credibility to their arguments.

Seeing posters disagree with each others stats they have copied from who knows where- it is hard for other posters to validate either argument.

3. The 3rd party stats would also provide comparative stats of the opposition as well as team mates to provide more context to the game.

4. It would give the other posters the ability to also interpret the stats, and more context to these stats.

The stats I quoted were from ESPN/ stats centre. They in turn get their numbers from a third party source. These are the stats which are habitually quoted on the Board and also used by Clevermike. To give him an out based on stats is  promoting dishonesty. He uses these numbers to lie and tell half truths. The problem is not with the stats source, it is with posters who are inherently dishonest. This is not the first time, there have been many examples involving several posters.
We don't need a bunch of procedural cover....we just need honesty

I do not know how I missed out on that one - and already apologized for the mistake made.   I copied the stats onto an empty document on my computer nd then used the calculator to add it up - that is where I made a mistake and I grant you a bad one at that.

I was not deliberately dishonest - I must have done something terribly wrong and admit it and apologized already.

However - I take serious exception to your comment about being inherently dishonest and cannot accept that from a person who distorts things beyond comprehension in any event.
