Rassie considering Siya at 7/8, Jantjies at 10, Pollard 12

With Louw and Van Staden in the mix, Rassie says Kolisi will play at blindside. Sounds like a definite, not a speculation. He also mentioned Kolisi having played at 8, so that option may also be open.

Rassie also still seems intent on "fixing" Jantjies, despite admitting that the player's erratic performances and lack of BMT is a concern. One option he mentioned that he is considering is Jantjies at 10 with Pollard at 12. Jantjies remains the backup flyhalf, with Willemse to be blooded at 15.

I don't know what possible good can come of Jantjies at 10 and Pollard at 12. It is a strange option to consider. Pollard is miles ahead of any other flyhalf we have. Despite our drought at center, forcing him there alongside Jantjies to me sounds like applying a bandage next to an open wound and hoping that stops the bleeding.

You worry too much. Rassie is a brilliant rugby brain who will fix SA rugby. Haven’t you listened to a thing the “experts” said?

Pollard was tried with disastrous results at 12 by the Bulls - he is no 12 - and then we have Jantjies at 10.   All the opposition have to do is to attack through the channel where both Jantjies (a totally inadequate defender) and Pollard (not a hot defender either - that is his weak spot), will allow floods of attackers through.

Jantjies never ever had a good game as test flyhalf -  and nothing will change if Erasmus selects him again.   Pollard at center will also fail  I am afraid,   The situation is desperate and they should play Pollard at 10.   Persisting with Jantjies will be suicidal - he should never have been in the squad anyway,

Blikkies correct me if i am wrong but didn't the Cheetahs under Rassie win two of the three Currie Cups they have won in thevr entire history. Seems you have a very biased take on Rassie!!

Ditto ou Windpomper!!! Windpomper this expert recognizes Rassie has grasped a very poisoned chalice with political interference and players leaving like never before but that Rassie will do as well as anybody could in the circumstances. He has a great rugby brain as so many have testified to.

If we had a stable 10 aside from Pollard, this could work. Maybe make Clever Mike's day and recall Frans at 10! I don't know what he's been up to, but theoretically that would be marvelous. But then, why not just have Pollard at 10 anyway.

Lurker, please tell me you are just baiting Maaik with this Fransie at 10 nonsense. Fransie was an OKish stand in 10 at provincial level...a desaster at 10 for the Boks...even in his prime. Other than that CC final for the Sharks vs WP in the rain, nothing to write home about at 10.

I always liked Fransie at 15 for the Boks. He gave us the edge to 3 -Zip the Allblacks back in 2009, but sadly, I think his ship has sailed.

He isn't my first choice for 10, but we could do a lot worse. If we want Pollard at 12, who else is there to play 10? The fans would never have the great Morné back.

He was okay at 15. But those shots at goal would have been made if he was at 12 anyway, he didn't need to play 15. He didn't contribute much apart from that. Defensively he was found out quite a number of times. It wasn't a perfect fit. His best tests were at 12 and 13, and the few occasions he played wing. He could probably still do a good job for the Boks now. We have nothing going on at home at centre at all. Frans and Serfontein would at least tie us over for a few seasons, giving us some breathing space until some new gen prospect really makes it.

Er Draad, who was the flyhalf that guided the 13 man Sharks to a win over the Saders in NZ. During that spell before Jake bowed to pressure to put wee Lambie back in, the Sharks had the best record in Super Rugby. Far too much is made of a few kicks charged down in Frans' early days. Frans could have been an outstanding Bok 10.

If Pollard got injured, we would have a 10/12 axis of Jantjies and Carthuizen. They way they both played against England in the third test was woeful.

People on this board are getting excited by SA loser rugby.

The smell of the incoming defeats is surprisingly arousing. Hard to understand, especially when these defeats will come with the usual dull anti rugby SA style.

OK guys, my bad for not being clear on what I posted. Rassie did well in the CC (how much of an achievement is that?), but in the Super rugby he dropped the Cheetahs like a hot potato while the SR was still on. Then he was appointed to assist Jake White as an analyst, but hardly anything came from that and Jake decided to rather get Eddie Jones involve.

So, at this point in time Rassie still has to prove himself, but with all these stupid quota requirements, he will find it not an easy road to travel.

So, in other words, can he do a Jake? We shall see. If he cannot build a team, he will fail. Being technically good and having ideas are not enough. Meyer kept the Boks punching above their weight because he could build. We ended up like Australia, ditching a coach because we were unhappy with results, but no understanding that the players available were less talented than believed. As stats show, which I posted a few days ago, they too have been suffering horrific defeats since they ditched Deans.

Exactly...HM had a harder job than PdV who had a player pool close to it's peak. In HM's case the best players were still Jake's team on the decline and the new players except for Pollard failed and in two cases played a big role in our semi loss.

As great as the peaks of 2009 were, in reality, it was underwhelming given the talent of that group of players. There was quite a bit of depth too. We had a few months of success in 2009, soured by a very disappointing EOYT. SARU should have hired Meyer in 2008 , as was the plan. Or at least retained Jake, who had the support of president Thabo Mbeki. So many bad decisions. But the nightmare continues. Its remarkable how South Africa can turn a simple matter into a far-reaching problem. Frustration isn't a big enough word to quantify how I feel about this country.

Steyn was a disaster at flyhalf and worse at center.   BS as per normal by Mozart.   He is not a good decision-maker and was poor in defense and worse in ball possession handovers in 2014.  His record of 2 line breaks and beating 8 defenders IN THE FULL 2014 season proved he was useless as ball carrier as well.

His record was BS on all aspects of Flyhalf play and his stats proved that.   How you could state otherwise despite his proven record is just another piece of BS you regularly spout on site.   Another example of your deceit on site..

Prove that he is no good was the contracting of Serfontein at center and the fact that Montpellier bought Goosen at high cost to play for them.   If Sreyn was any good that would not have happened.

But then the site BSters advocated Morne Steyn as flyhalf when he was the Stade Francais bench player.   Not good enough tio play starting flyhalf for his club - but good enough to play for SA.

Either a lack of understanding of the game or rank stupidity.

What about Matfield playing a bigger role in our semi-loss.   That part was ignored by the serial BSter on site.   And he defended by Matfiel's poor play when he came on from the bench.

Poor Meyer - ag foeitog - another load of BS from who else but Mozart.   And the supporter of the moron is none other than Lurker.   What a collection of BSters we have here.  .

Cheetahs have won 5 Currie Cups. Rassie coached them from 2005 and left in 2007

In 2005, he made the step up to Currie Cup, leading the Free State to glory during the 2005 season. It was the Cheetahs first Cup title since 1976. The following year, Erasmus led the Cheetahs into their debut season in the Super 14 competition, finishing in tenth place with five wins from thirteen. Later that year the Free State Cheetahs retained their Currie Cup title, however had share the trophy with the Blue Bulls after the score remained even after extra time, 28–28, and no other criteria separating the teams.

WIndpomper  no more bulle bias against Erasmus please!

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaaa!!!

I should have known ... the same idiot who rates Morne Stain as a world beater, feels the same way about the most over rated player ever to don the green and gold.

Fats Fransie ... in his dreams he's the hero of every match he plays ... and then he embarrasses himself and all of South Africa with miss kicked drop shots from his own 22. He digs his foot into the turf and the intended shot at posts becomes a grubber.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha!!!

Rassie is prepared to take his best 10 and sacrifice him for the sake of a quota.

Wow!!!

Does his brown nosing have no end?

We have a shortage of quality 10's ... which by the way is probably one of the most important position on the field ... and he wants to take the best prospect we've had for aeons and play him at 15 ... from the bench ... so that a useless quota can tell his mommy that he's a Bok.

Incredible!!

Meyer built nothing ... he cost us 4 years with daydreams of returning to the Bulls glory years.

He took the credit for the Bulls success when it should have gone to their players.

Habana, Du Preez, Bakkies, Victor, Gurthro ... to name but a few ... all incredible talents that come around once in a life time ... if you're lucky.

Any fool could have reaped the rewards with that kind of talent at your disposal.

Meyer then had his opportunity to dazzle us with his "brilliance" ... and the only thing he'll be remembered for ... is his shameful loss to the Japanese.

Loads of talent available to him  ... and that's the best he could do.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaa!!!

What a loser!!

Is it a waste? The Bok's strength is in the pack, and Bok rugby predominantly plays off 9. So we know where the emphasis will be. Jantjies can play 10, Pollard can play 12. That drastically expands our midfield capacity and brings the rest of the backline into the game. You need to think more tactically CleanCut. Your losing your edge since you formed a Thelma and Louise partnership with CleverMike. "CC & CM 4Eva" carved into a comely willow tree in a verdant setting.

Well ... what do you do when you have SARU'S big cheese's dick in your hand ... ?

You have to pucker up and make him happy ... and the only way he can do that is to make room for sub standard black players.

There has to be a Beast ... a Bongi ... a Kolisi ... a Jantjies ... a Am ... a Mapoe ... and a host of other quotas in key positions, all pretending to be legitimate Boks.

Kolis is not a 6 ... nor a 7 ... nor an 8. In fact he should rather have tried his luck at something else.

Simply useless.

CC

Rassie would not condemn Jantjies in public and will make generalized remarks which is construed by journalists as factual pertaining to his intentions as to team selections.

I would not at all if the backline is made up of the following iro of the test next week:-

15   Le Roux, 14  Skosan, 13  Kriel, 12 De Allende/Esterhuizen, 11 Mapimpi, 10 Pollard, 9  De Klerk/Van Zyl/Papier.

If De All;ende is not available the choice is likely to be Esterhuizen and if De Klerk is not available the choice is likely to be Van Zyl or Papier.   The latter two played regularly for the Bulls and will be a known combination.

As to Willemse - I think he will be the bench flyhalf to cover both the flyhalf and full back positions.   He is likely to start in the following test as full back so as to rest Le Roux.

The second story relates to the loosies and locks.   Rassie will not start the game with Etzebeth as lock - he will; put him on the bench and start with Snyman and Mostert or Du Toit.   The loosie combination would likely be Du Toit or Whiteley at 8,   If Whiteley gets the job - Du Toit will start at 7 with Kolisi at 6 and he would put Louw or Van Staden on the bench.  The fact that Kolisi is such a poor loosie - but is a political selection - makes life very difficult for Erasmus.   He must find a place for him knowing that he is not producing the goods.

As a matter of fact the same BS as spouted before the English tests is now in evidence again.   It is only the extreme rugby illiterates who falls for it and support everything that would be boo-ed on the field of play by supporters.
