That's truly embarrassing.....and you forget the close wins. Rassie already set for an exit after a loss in QFs .....citing the need to make deeper changes in SA rugby in order to challenge....which he can only make pre the act of conception.
Hence even the Rugby Nursery post is ex post facto. Fixing genetics is the only solution.
Where is Jake when we need him?

Come now HasBeen let's be honest Rassie has been a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream.....just as I warned. And of course he is totally on the moz predicted script, announcing his departure after the WC QFs right on cue.
Stick with moz for the real (rum and raisin) scoop.

By the way.....'Rassie running out of time' would be a better heading.

A 'degree of optimism' ......oh boy, that's okay then.

Reminds me of an Afrikaans expression. Wens in die een hand en kak in die ander hand. What did the optimism bring us?

You forgot to add: “.......because it doesn’t suit my agenda”.

Puleeze....after losing in the Quarters in 2003, Jake won the TN in 2004.
Rassie seems like a nice fellow with some clever ideas.....but he is essentially a staff guy attracted to b/s jobs like Director of South African rugby.
Is he better than Coetzee.....not much....but crucially the team have more faith in him and his survival. So you don't see the mega mental collapses we saw under Coetzee.
As for the AB win, we are one of two teams who have a shot against them, the other being Ireland obviously....teams that have the physicality to not be overwhelmed.
And against a careless AB team without Jaws, we reminded them of that. The loss in Pretoria looked similar to the loss in 2013.
For the rest we struggled against a weak Pom team at home, lost to the Bargies and Wales twice. Hardly encouraging.
Rassie made huge mistakes appointing Stick and making Kolisi captain....he hasn't resolved the loosie or centre situation.....and I suspect, the wing situation.
Discouraging.

Rassie played a b-team against Wales in his first match, and then a B-team against England in SA for the third test once the tournament was ended as any form of a contest.
The first test against England EOYT was close. Around 4 first choice Boks were not available due to having to play pub club rugby in England. All in the while, England made all of their test players available for the match. (No Willie Leroux, No Faff, No Mostart, No Flouw etc).
A 2nd place finish in the 4 nations, despite a disappointing loss to Argentina, and a close loss in Australia.
The weakest the Boks looked was when there were the most changes in personnel as Rassie was trying combinations and new players.Once combinations have more than 2 games to settle, there were fewer errors- and the defence and attack seemed more structured. Also once a few of the dummies like Van Staden were disposed of.
Rassie had to play an end of the year tour against easily the strongest Northern Hemisphere teams ever (Having looted coaches and players to fill gaps in the Southern Hemisphere).
Ivan the terrible at 9(sixth choice) was useless in the first EOYT test vs England/If Faff had been playing in this match, I expect the first half dominance by the Boks may have been enough to have taken this test.
It was a close match- and then there was the Farrell incident that the referee himself admitted after the match should have been a penalty- which would almost certainly have been converted and a win by the Boks.
France and Scotland are matches that were won.
Wales was the worst match of the season for the Boks,...
Inside centre is a problem with little to no talent to choose from, whereas loose forward is also an issue - particularly at the breakdown.
Kolisi is probably not the ideal captain, but there are limited options. Vermeulen may have been a good choice, but he made himself unavailable for half the season. Who else is there that is the current captain of their SuperXV side?
Additionally, it is South Africa, where everything is about giving out a democratic representation to people that are not white.
Pollard and Stephanie have no experience in the open div

The loss to the Bargies and the loss to a terrible Aussie team away were worse in my view.

Or we could have lost the first test against the Poms, the away test against NZ and the test against France who effectively had it won and finished 4/10. Seven and seven probably splits the difference.

The All Blacks tests of 1/2 are pretty accurate as the Boks lost at home despite playing better, while they won away despite the All Blacks being better on the day.
The French test was close, but again this was largely due to testing new combinations. When Steph Dutoit shifted back to blindside flank, the tight five was more powerful- and the game turned in the favour of SA.
The reality is the Boks played more difficult opposition this year than last year when the Boks were coached by Alister Coetzee Brendan Venter.
Tests against France at home, then Italy on the EOYT. The Boks got hammered against the All Blacks and Ireland, and the team looked totally disinterested.
This years team tackled as their life's depended on it. This is something that can be built on, unlike Coetzee's first year in charge, or Brendan Venter in his 2nd year.
It is worth noting that over the last 3 years the Boks have had 3 coaches.Year 1 - Alister CoetzeeYear 2 - Brendan VenterYear 3- Rassie
