Last week, or should I say the last 2 test have been absolutely atrocious when it comes to the bok performances.
In the argie march we had seasoned campaigners, all with tons of experience but many coming back from mid to long term injuries and under cooked. Yet against England the boks ran riot and then dropped their intensity in the 2nd half against Scotland with some blatant cracks.
The team is undercooked.
Where as the kiwis are building momentum and starting fire, yet they too come with a 44 team on tour and left a 50 cap prop at home and some other players not included.
What is different?
Why can the ABs for 4 game straight field the same team with max 25% changes where as the box only 25% of the previous team remains.
It is simple and it all goes back to the stupid rugby calendar. Rassie has no choice but trying to manage each player workload and rest period.
It doesn't help that the bulk of the team plays abroad and probably the Japan based boks having the better rest but not the same level of intensity.
So our European box have a 11 month season with non stop travel, many injuries and then our Japan boks undercooked.
So what now?
I think if Rassie wants to play musical chairs then he needs to pick his group.
One for the first half of the test season and another for the 2nd half, not this on off on rotation nonsense.
France may be onto something, happy to send a 2nd string team to NZ for 3 test and allow their team to gain experience, so why not give the boys a proper pre-season with their franchises and a proper rest?
