What are your thoughts on Rathbone?

Im finding my mind in a bit of a pickle...

1. I cant be a hypocrate as ive always held it against him that ge left SA
2. Im always the first one to throw a naartjie at him at a game and boo him off
3. I do find him arrogant

So im not going to pretend to like him all of a sudden

BUT... hell it takes a real man to reveal his inner feelings like that and make it public. Flip I wish him all the best.

Well done to him. It takes a proper man to have the guts to expose emotions like that.

May the road to recovery be filled with roses, champaigne and hiswife to guide him along the path to.

He has suffered long and hard, I can't live in the past, I wish him well and I hope he and his wife get together again and live happily for she is a remarkable person as well.

To be quite honest with, you it never bothered me that he left South Africa and later represented Australia. Likewise Kevin Pietersen. The only thing I disliked about either of them is their arrogant attitude. It came across as though they were over doing the whole thing to impress their adopted countrymen. In Rathbones case I was not entirely correct about him. You can never say why a person acts a certain way so you just have to take them the way they come. Knowing what I know now I can understand him better. It took guts to do what he did and I respect that. Coming face to face with yourself is the most challenging obstacle any person can face and I wish him all the best. As a player I respected him. I will never forget how he snatched a last minute victory for Australia in 2004. We came literally minutes from white washing all that year. Injuries got in his way whic is unfortunate and after that I never heard or thought about him again.

Why can't he come face to face with himself in private? Just another reinterpreted youth.....just another self pitier.

He ran away from the spectre of quotas.did'nt believe he would get picked for the boks.Same as Pietersen.Like the aristrocat says I never really thought about them after they left.doubt his continued precence in the bok set up would have made us a better team anyway.That all being saide good luck to him.
