De Jager is out of rugby for four months after an injury on Saturday according to the following report by News24:-

The Bulls and Springboks were hit by a massive double blow on the injury front as it was revealed that both giant lock Lood de Jager and prop Lizo Gqoboka won’t be playing any rugby for the foreseeable future after massive injuries in their Super Rugby win over the weekend against the Sharks.

Gqoboka injured a tendon in his toe, and will miss at least than four months of action, while the 2015 SA Rugby Player of the year De Jager, who has been in scintillating form this year, has a chest injury that will keep him on the sidelines for four months at well.

That means both players, who were expected to form part of Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus’ plans in the three test series against England in June, will be on the sidelines and will only make a return in the Currie Cup – also deep into this year’s Castle Lager Rugby Championship.

“Lizo Gqoboka unfortunately left the field with an injured big toe. Scans today revealed he injured a tendon and he will require surgery for that, so he will consult with the specialist today and will be on the sideline for at least four to six months,” Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw said.

“Lood de Jager left the field in the 70th minute with an injury to his chest wall. Scans revealed he has a complete tear of that muscle. He is also consulting with a specialist and he will also be out for at least four months.”

Erasmus already has several challenges after losing Malcolm Marx to injury just a few weeks ago, and the weekend news that Pat Lambie also is out will also affect the deeper squad depth ahead of the England test.

The Bulls already have lost Pierre Schoeman to a six week ban for biting, and now are looking for a new loosehead ahead of their trip to Buenos Aires this weekend while Jason Jenkins is expected to fill in the void in De Jager’s absence with Ruben van Heerden likely to cover off the bench."

De J ager is high up on Mozart's pet hate list and he is also disliked by CC - so they will be delighted by this news.

Listen you scumbag, I have never been delighted by the injury of any professional athlete. Don't project your attitudes on others.

Sue - you were - but when you write weekly messages on your presumed injuries to Goosen-playig for the Cheetahs which never in fact was real injuries - you showed your true colours.

You have been gloating about injures to Lambie and other players so don't play the innocent here.

There is a difference between saying a player like Goosen or Stephanie in his early days were injury prone....and wishing the player ill. Clean up your act.

By reporting on site injuries to the player on a weekly basis when no such injuries in fact occurred?   Is that called gloating or what?   You were in fact asked repeatedly to stick to the truth at the time - but continued with your weekly "injury" reports.

I m in trouble on Foxsport Fantasy - De Jager was one of my bankers and I will have to find a decent lock to replace him.   Retallick is also out for the next three rounds and there is no other NZ lock one can consider.

My next choice would have been Schickerling - but he is also out with an injury,  Should be back in another two weeks  or so though.

Any suggestions?   .   .

Actually unlike incidents in rugby, injuries are not apparent to viewers....everything I ever reported was simply a cut and paste of press reports. But I can remember you saying Stephanie would be ready the following week, when he only just made the WC several months later. Seems like you should be accusing yourself DCup.

No - Mozart

Disinformation again.   Du Toit was originally scheduled to be out for 12 weeks be was back in playing in Super Rugby games in May 2015.   Not back for the  Springboks because Meyer preferred duds like Matfield and Flip  van der Merwe in the RC matches that year,   Before you get a seizure by 2015 Matfield was a dud.

Du Tout was back playing on test level in the Argentine test in July 2015, after Flippie flopped as per normal.   The real joke was you supported the selection of Flippie at he time.   .

Another one bites the dust thanks to Super Rugby, in the last few weeks we have not only lost Malcolm Marx but now Lood...( don't even bother going back in history and other international sides) trim this competition back to 12 or even 10 consolidated sides...less games = less injuries = more functional international rugby (far more stimulating and rewarding) and it makes the game itself the overall winner in a worldwide context.

It also applies to club/franchise games in France and the UK.

I know it's a lost cause to rant about it but nevertheless it's an obvious and logical fact. The world scene in rugby is totally lobsided and unbalanced all for the sake of greed and in the long run the game and the players suffer...the cost imho is not worth it. If the player is sacrificed then the game in this context suffers. It's a case of rugby getting it's priorities right.

Some of you might not agree and I will the bleating but I happen to be aware there are a lot of rugby fans here in SA and world-wide that would welcome it.

Good points Seb! I agree that there is too much rugby, which not only exposes the players and increases the chance of injury, but it waters down the interest in the game.

Ja Blue...Super Rugby is like fast food...going to Mac Donalds 3 or 4 times a week instead of going to Guilios (Cape Town) or lle Maurice (Umhlanga Rocks) once a week.

No comparison
