Landers denied a try due to unintentional off-side through lazy -running by a Lions player?

Can anybody shed some light since I'd have thought that should have been a try.

Very strange call.

Did they not award that? I had to pop out while the reviews were taking place, assumed they'd give it. I agree with you, surely the ball hitting the Lions player put all the 'L anders onside and it should have been a fair try.

Lions getting a beating at the moment, those short passes and running angles from the Landers are punching their defence to bits.

And then a great response before half time.

Lions just hit back...Jantjies converts.

9 points in it.

Lions penalty right on half time. Lineout in the 22 for the Leeus.

Another penalty to the Lions.

Three in a row now.

Another lineout probably, and another infringement might be a yellow to the Landers.

Try to the Lions from a maul.

4 points in it...

2 if he slots the conversion.

Dismal end to he half for the Landers.

How fit are the Landers? Jet lag?

Last 20 is gonna be key.

Jantjies misses the conversion.

4 points in it.

The Lions seem to have a few slow runners in the side. Ruck ball isn't clean OR fast.

Why is JSVR not getting any game time?

Being punished for his weight?

That Smith case was to my mind a try by Ben Smith .   I think bar one of two players the Lions was BS with jus about having butter-fingers and Jantjies running sideway before passing destroying his own backline.

Landers scrum demolished on their 22.

Without the ability to ruck, it seems fine for a scrumhalf to discourage offside play by taping - to take a quick penalty with some extra space.
The Lions pack is average without Jaco Kriel and Marx at the breakdown- and Whitely as a link player between forwards and backs. The breakdown has been slow- and the Lions lack mongrel

Indeed SB

The Lions have lost so many of their starting players.

Suppose the fact they're still competitive is a silver lining of sorts.

As to the weird call.

I can't understand the reasoning. If it's a penalty then a try was scored under advantage. No?

If was accident(though it wasn't) then does that put Ben Smith in a offside position or does it count as a forward pass?
