Excellent post Mike as you hit the nail on the head. Brycy's hero bryce lawrence has been booted off the IRB elite panel of refs as a consequence of his appalling display at the wc (possibly the worst display of referreeing ever seen in a test?)
It was hugely telling though the BL was, as a reward, made nz ref of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How brazen and untouchable do you think you are?
Paddy O'Brien was also dumped. Says it all.
So why are nz such cheaters, well the answer is obvious. They cheat because they know they can t win a fairly reffed contest. Why cheat if you are confident of winning?
Take the recent Stormers match versus the crusties. I listed all the problems with the ref. Never have the Stormers been blown offisde like this before. Never. Also the offsides were not shown on TV. never mind about hands in by Franks never shown on their broadcast, etc etc.
They cheated at wc becuase they knew they couldlnot win with their very average side.
Now I have the objectivity to note our own craig joubert shafted the French who were clearly the better side in the final and should have won given a fair deal. I also pointed out how Dickinson, hoping to get an Oz side in the semi's blew the crusaders out of the water at Newlands and the Stormers won by some 30 odd pointrs or so - it was a big win.
Now I will admit Wash had a by nz standards had a good game this weekend. He had of course been reported as having a shocker the week before in that sharks matc. Obvioulsy one cant over do it. So this week he behaves. Its not that these guys do not know the rules its that they are bent.
I note again how the Cheetahs/ brumbies ref, got invevestigated for the plethora of penalties he awarded against the Cheetahs and it was found he had made "mistakes' very consistent though as they favoured the Oz side.
The BL debacle at the world cup led at long last to our bigwigs taking action which resulted in paddy and BL getting the boot by the IRB. I only hope they continue to pursue cheating down under refs rigourously.
So the conclusion is nz cheat becasue they cant win fairly. Its pretty obvious really.
Now not all nz folk are cheats. it up the these folk to say enough. Say no to nz rugby being dragged through the mud. Indeed no cheating ref should be supported whoever they are. The game deserves competent fair refs.
