How to arrive at "relevant" statistics . . .
"Okay, let's start off by including these stats that suit my argument and we'll ignore those stats that don't. Hmmmm, let's see now . . . we'll just add that up . . . darn, it still shows that I'm wrong! Okay, let's pretend that game didn't happen . . . and we'll just forget about the score in that game because it's contradicts the point I want to make . . . now let's try that again . . . that plus that, expressed as a percentage . . . oh for Pete's sake, it's still not proving my point . . . stupid bloody statistics! Okay, hang on, we'll just use a different number for that one and if anyone happens to notice that I'm just making things up, I'll just remind them that I have a PHD and they don't . . . that should do it! Okay, so this number here plus the number I sucked out of my thumb minus the number I'm going to lie about . . . let's see . . . divided by the number that I carefully chose and expressed as a percentage . . . yes! Finally! The stats support my argument! At long last, the statistics are relevant!"
Jokes aside, that's exactly how this board's self-proclaimed "statistician" reasons when he puts up his nonsensical drivel . . . and then he'll still tell you how the stats don't lie! Well, his "relevant" stats don't lie anyway . . . other stats might!
