“The independent Judicial Committee found that sending off was a sufficient sanction in this case because the player was sent off for two yellow cards,” World Rugby said.

“The first of those yellow cards was for a technical offence following a team warning,” it added.

“Appendix 4 at B 2(c) provides that: “The … judicial committee may decide that sending off was sufficient … in the following circumstances … (c) any of the temporary suspensions were awarded for so-called technical offences (including following a team warning) not involving a breach of laws 9.11 to 9.28 inclusive.

Sanity prevails, this is consistent with their rulings on other double yellow cards.

It's the right decision.

Good luck JW!

Thanks Rooi, that whole game was a wakeup call for the whole team and especially Barrett.

Not a red, but a fair yellow, so a fair outcome...but I love the snot en trane from the Kiwis when the boot is on the other foot...

Last World Cup we had Eben  pulled into a fracas down our West Coast. Almost ruined his attendance.

Locks are paramount in the World Cup. No team has won it without imposing themselves at the lock position.
