Remembr the wonderkid promoted by the Orcs

Going through the games played yesterday and came across the following in respect of Juan de Jongh,   He played for Wasps against the low ranked on the log Bristol.

But this guy - strongly punted by the orc and his associates over many years - had by all standards a poor game if his stats are anything to go by:-

Balls passed                -     3

Ball carries                  -     6

Meters carried             -     22

Clean breaks               -     1

Defenders beaten        -     2

Turnovers conceded    -      2

Tackles made             -      6

Tackles missed           -      4

Penalties conceded     -      3

De Jongh must be complimented - he has a long history of ducking out of defense when he should tackle players or even going AWOL in games when it comes to both defense and attack.   he did not duck out yesterday - but made an unholy mess of the game.

Really another example of orc ignorance of the game of rugby.          

The stat that stands out is the missed tackle stat. How did these misses happen? What areas of the pitch? Who was inside and outside him? Who did he attempt to tackle? Was he the primary tackler? Was it from behind or head-on, or lateral? What was the attacking movement? If you can answer these questions we may be able to learn something from these numbers. 

As for the 2 turnovers. One would assume the he was turned over after contact. Being an outside centre, it's likely the team weren't able to protect the ball in the outer channels. Can you provide any details? 

The 3 penalties. Where did these occur? Were any of them incurred holding onto the ball? We need more details. 

Maaik, I always thought he was a handy 13. Not a superstar, but solid enough for a Stormers  13. Hugh Jones is the tipe of player I would rather see playing for WP, but De Jongh wasn't that bad.

He was a good player when in space when he was put in the clear.   Most of the time he was pout in the clear by De Allende - the latter was crucified by the orcs, De Jongh was always praised by them.   He was always sub-standard when it came to defense and in trying to carry balls with defenders near him.   What he did in defense yesterday was on par with what he used to be,

Jones was a much better center - but De Jongh was always protected by Coetzee and that was one of the major problems of the Stormer since 2012.        

Why comment on a game you haven't seen?

Le Roux missed more than he made and one led directly to a try. You don't criticise him however.

What he did in defense yesterday was on par with what he used to be,

De Jongh throughout his test career maintained a tackle success in the mid 80%, as I have shown before. This is his par, as evidenced by his season stats for 2017 and 2018 at Wasps with 86% and 78% tackle success respectively. 60% success like in the game you quote is to be considered an anomaly for this player, not par.

De Jongh won my WP a Currie Cup final with a moment of brilliance. 

By the way, Bristol were only 5 points behind Wasps before the game and there's only 10 points separating 3rd and 9th position. 

Lowly Bristol with the Piutua brothers, Steven Luatua, Jack Lam and Alapati Leiua to name a few International's. lol.

I am amazed about the above comments on De Jongh.   The junior orc tries to find reasons for the missed tackle ratio and penalties given away in a desperate effort to find excuses for the fact that it did happen.   Best advice is to go back to the chief orc - his present efforts are useless and futile - who will advise him to lie his way out of the situation.

As far as I can remember De Jongh played two starting test in 2012 and  I in 2017.   In the two tests in 2012 he went AWOL in both and in 2017 he made 7 tackles and missed 3 - leading to a determined effort of the min orc to hide the fact away.   His skimpy test record is not a normn to judge his defense by,

In Super R ugby his tackle allowed for a more or less 75 success rate - but fact is that De Jongh wa notorious for ducking out of tackles  he should have attempted - giving a much more favourable success rate than actually achieved.   To his credit he obviously did not duck out yesterday reflecting his true defense abilities,

As to his attacking play De Jongh over a period of 7 years played in 97 games for the Stormers.   In the 97 games he scored 15 tries.  He was really useless in attacking play and relied on De Villiers and De Allende to put him in space - where his pace allowed them to score when in space.    Himself assisting in scoring a try was impossible.

I know about that 2012 CC final try of his - the defense buggered up.   They concentrated their attention on De Allende and  the Sharks loosie went to sleep - leaving an opening for De Jongh to run into and score the try. 

Maaik, like I said, not a superstar, but not the villain you paint him to be either.

"Truths" and opinions change, facts don't because they're based on reality.

Do you know anyone who speaks with great certainty about everything? Someone who makes statements such as, “Wrong!” or “That’s ridiculous!” or “You're completely incorrect!” when someone disagrees with him or her?

Being right is very important to such people. Even when they are dead wrong, they don't let actual facts get in the way of their opinions. They fail to realize that there is a big difference between facts on the one hand, and truth, opinion, belief, taste, and preference on the other. Moreover, just because we dislike or disapprove of something does not make it wrong.

In 2015 Juan and Kolbe did the creative work. Damian spent his time out wide or loitering behind a pod, waiting for more space. A lazy player. Juan was immense, in spite of the fact that he was left on the edge of the defence with a void between him and 10. It's remarkable what he was able to achieve. 

They concentrated their attention on De Allende

Here are the Sharks "concentrating their attention" on De Allende (white). They were actually concentrating their attention on the carrier (Catrakilis, blue) and Van Den Heever (who came off his wing) and De Jongh running off him. De Jongh (red) changes direction to take the pass on the switch, beating Marcell Coetzee, handing off Keegan Daniel and stepping Sharks #11 to score.

Great set move from the scrum by WP aided by Reinach on the far left running across too far and Marcell Coetzee off the scrum getting across too slowly. Between them the gap opened. Bringing Van Den Heever in left WP's right wing exposed, but added an extra man into the backline which may have accounted for Reinach rushing across too far to compensate .
