Retallik swotted Stephanie twice

I thought Jaws only ran through Stephanie once, early in the half, leaving Stephanie on the deck doing a Hollywood. But at minute 28 he bust open another feeble tackle from Stephanie. pSDT isn't showing much upper body strength in tests. In fact after his bench stints where he played a looser role, he has been a damp squibb. If we are going to play physical rugby one wonders if we need to find some stronger 5s. When its mentioned that Jaws and Whitelock outplayed our Bok pair, there are always howls of disagreement. But it was true in Durban and true at the WC semi.

 Another posting on Du Toit and another lie.    Retallick beat one tackle attempt by Du Toit and not two as you are writing - so another lie is f abricated by our habitual liar again.    

Swotted him twice, I gave you the minute 28. By the way he ran through Allende in the same run. Apologize Tokkie

Du Toit missed a tackle on Retallick ONCE and your comnets is a lie as per normal.   You are talking kak as per normal.   You never once in comments mentioned that in the game in question that in the same game Du Toit made 14 tackles and he missed 2 - the same figure DE Allende did.  
You are the most prejudiced person I have ever seen and instead of giving people credit for what they did and criticizing them for mistakes you do the exact opposite.   You try and denigrate people and whitewash the poor performance by some players you favour.   Big BSter is what you a re.  

Completely unrelated, but Du Toit trip tackled Barrett during the game, something that a lot of players failed to pull off.

Say Quacky you seem pretty slick with the videos....can you assist on this factual point. The incident I'm referring to occurred at about minute 28.......just before de Jongh put through his grubber kick and trapped the NZ receveiver with a strong tackle, only for Hougaard to infringe. Mike seems to be having another senior moment, a simple video of Retallik running right through Steph again should settle this in my favour.

 I saw the footage again and Yes, he did miss the tackle horribly...













However,
I don't think it's fair to judge his performance based on that s pecific tackle, the guy worked hiss ass off in the game...
(and no, it wasn't a strong tackle by De Jongh, he literally threw himself carelessly at Crotty; and Hougaard didn't infringe, he simply knocked it on after Crotty also knocking the ball on...)

I agree PSDT had a good game overall & cannot be judged solely on one missed tackle. The Boks overall had a bad game & it's hard for an individual to have a good game when all is falling apart around him. PSDT may be a bit light for a Bok lock but he's a talent they have to figure out how to use.

He can still gain a few Kgs, and can always be used against more physical teams at blindside...those games that are tough up front he can be our 3rd lock in disguise of course absolutely not against the All Blacks, for that we need a quick blindside!

 Got it ....thanks. And it's not one tackle JW ...there were two attempts on Rettallik with exactly the same result. You can also see Allende about to give him the usual upper body massage before falling off the tackle. You just cant do this kind of stuff when you are playing the ABs. I agree Steff plays hard.....more evident when he comes on as a sub, as a starter all that enthusiasm winds down. But he is essentially the same player he was at the Sharks, good in the tight loose, a solid lineout option if not in the Matfield class.....but no power lock. Snyman may prove the better option....he is a bigger man and looks just as mobile.

Yes, PSDT missed two tackles but he made 14 and won one turnover. So he was not the reason why the Boks had defensive problems. Players like Hougaard had a far worse day on defense, e.g. he made 5 tackles & missed 4. Other players that had a bad day on defense, e.g. Habana, Steyn, etc.

 But the morale impact of your big man running through our big man and leaving him out on the deck is not insignificant. The point here is not that Stephanie was the main culprit, I never said that if you check back.

On the morale impact point, sure it would have some impact but when you consider the fact that the ABs were pilling on the points & ripping through the defense (754 meters gained, 40 defenders beaten, 24 clean breaks...) the fact that Retallick beat him twice while not "insignificant" is also not that significant.
On the broader point of is there a better lock available, yes maybe, we will see but in the meantime the Boks should use PSDT wisely as he has a lot to offer. Part of this wise use is not to run him into the ground so this should give others a chance to prove their worth also. I will check out Snyman.

Well we wont know until Snyman gets into the test arena. To me he looks like he has a heavier frame. These weights are very much what the player needs for marketing purposes. A lot of boerewors with all it's salt washed down by beer and the number pops. Stephanie has at best a medium size frame.
