While New Zealand and Australian players rest during the off-season, our players go the UK or France. They either get overplayed or injured...


Hopefully the international season will prevent the 12 month season that some Sa players have...

I'd love to see a list of all top players who head over to Japan during our off-season..

Steve Hansen goes on & on & on about how essential the off-season break is for his players.

Serisl offendrs like the Kriels, Mostert, Jantjies etc have been heading East for at least four years ....... lil wonder they struggle as the season progresses. .

This is very bad for the Bulls. Although, it does seem like he'll only be out for two months, so he should only miss about four Super Rugby games, and be back with plenty of time before the International season. As for the players playing overseas in the off season, I think they should be contractually forced not to do it. In other words, either SA rugby or the players home union should put a clause in their contracts prohibiting them playing rugby in the off season. They can milk the European and Japanese circuits to boost their pensions when their international careers come to an end.

Playing without a break has been fatal for the future of some players - for example Pollard was virtually out for two years because of that problem.   Player come back injured from playing touch rugby in Japan or get injured soon after their return.

The whole show is to be discouraged.   Snyman could find him out of the Springbok squad as a result of the injury.
