The sight of fattie Lions forwards literally belly flopping into the last mauls under Joubert's nose summed up this mess. The Lions can't pass, they can't catch and they certainly can't tackle....they should be gone.

Strauss sans beard was literally invisible. Jantjies was a highway for the Bulls, supposed "bravery" aside and that pass of his to Ndungane was pin point perfect. Then the poor tyke gets over the line and can't even ground the ball.

Murray was his usual passive self....he is a big chap and ran through JJ 4 times according to my count. But then fails to close in and tackle, an old failing of his....and allows Engelbrecht a nice run. A battle of poor tacklers rather than great runners. It amazes me though how the commentators fail to pick up this woeful defence.

On the Bools side...the two Potgieters seem to be getting more stupid by the game. The Woollie Boolie lets a rugby ball through his feet....and dots down three inches short. He also misses almost every tackle. Morne continues to have the kicking wobblies. Greyling is buckled in the scrums but Werner is totally destroyed. And Spies is nowhere to be seen.

My guess is a 20 point loss against the Saders.

JJ missed him twice, but his display with ball in hand far outweighed those two negatives.

Josh Strauss had another power game, culminating in that good try.

Jantjies was far better than useless Morne. The best bit was Jantjies smashing Morne on the line, when good old Morne true to form thought he was a running flyhalf, taking Jantjies on head on and getting his arse kicked, this when he has numerous options on his outside. Dewald Potgieters face said it all - he was on Morne's outside with a clear line.

Welcome the Super Kings & Watsons. Should be interesting to have a new team to support.

It is just the Watsons that will revolt fans. Puke cant have that many more years of rugby left in him. However I suppose with Cheeky rigging the player aquisitions no one in his position will be recruited.

Jake White could have coached the Super Kings instead of the Brumbies.

You mean the head high tackle Jantjies executed while another player took Morne low....probably a penalty.

Nope it was one on one, not another player in sight. Well Moz Jantjies knows his stuff, you dont go low when someone is about to cross the line, you engulf him as Jantjies did - he completely clobbered him. Good old Morne cocked it up in a big way

Not Morne's best moment, but he guided his team to a solid win.....Jantjies effectively ended the game in the Bools favour. A loser.

welcome to the Kings 2013, another points cow for South African sides in this stupid conference system!

Hakwa- the major benefactors of the conference system have been Australia. The reds should be travelling and not the Bulls for the quarters.

The Lions were crap all tournament- although the Aukland Blues only have one more win than them.

I would agree though- the Kings 2013 will be a points cow for SA teams next year. However the goverment is pumping money into them- and apparently they have some surprise signings with all the extra cash floating around- so may pull a few surprises but I doubt it.

Yes, good riddance to the toothless Lions who for all their years in Super rugby, only ever stood up to South African teams and always gave overseas teams bonus points. So for that reason I am happy to see them go and bring on the Kings. I cannot comment on the Kings as yet as I am not familiar with their players and squad for next year. I hope to see Jantjies go to the Sharks where his game will be further developed. Having said that though, I must mention that King Carlos had a very good influence on him and his game, so well done to Spencer.

Taute, Mapoe, Strauss and Franco VDM all deserve to go to better unions where their talent I am sure will get put to better use.

What absolute rubbish. The Lions are misssing Taute,Van Der Merwe, CJ, Maku, Doppies, Hollenbach, Rhodes Cillers etc etc etc. Yet they were at 20 all against a side qualfifying for the playoffs! The also gave the bools a scrumming lesson. Save for one bad pass the lions would have got a bonus point.

Name me ONE valid reason why the Queens are being promoted. If the Lions get injured players back they could make a showing in the Currie Cup and they would defintely have done a lot better in the Super 15.

What is certain is that the dispicable queens have come through the back door in the most dishourable of ways. Gutless stuff by the queens as led by master twit watson. However the story is not finnished yet. With a bit of luck the watsons queens will not get in.

My hope is that they flop big time  and that SARFU gets sued  by all aggrieved parties. If they had earned their right to get Super 15 status that would be fine - but this represents a big overall problem in the new rotten South Africa and needs to be recognised for what it is.

the lions has a great game pattern but lacks in player depth. that is there biggest issue. if they had half of the players that the bulls are letting go or what the stormers are just nog picking then they can compete at least. but the teams that are in the comp need to be a realistic team for the title. i feel there is way to much run of the mill sides that are just there for the top teams to score 5 points for.

that being said this utter rubbish conference system needs to go. the new format is basicly giving the aussies a local comp and giving them a free pass for a team in semi's. its also rubbish that some sides dont even play each other in the full season. cant believe out administrators got coned into signing off on this system to be honest. SA has about 65% of the viewers and yet we split the profits 1/3 with the other.......

Hasbeen, every side is missing players. As a  Stormers supporter you should know that. The Cheetahs and the Lions were in a death struggle. The better led, gutsier Cheetahs prevailed.

So now supposedly we are going to get the Queens, or maybe not, depending on which crooked official you believe. They will be the worst team in the league by miles. Its a crock. But the Lions understood this at the beginning of the season...they should be better than the Cheetahs if all are to be believed. Hell they have Taute, Jantjies and Strauss....a fifth of a Bok team right there according to some.....certainly better than the Cheetahs.

Nope the Lions understood the challenge and bottled out. As for their rugby, brainless physical stuff.....it won't be missed.

they knew the rules but they still did not perform for who knows how long. so i cant think why they should be offered a place if they are not title contenders. they might be well suited to a b section of a super rugby competition maybe but are not top 10 material to be honest

If they were being replaced by a union that had earned the honour I would not mind.

Please name me that union that is better than the Lions?

Also please explain why the queens must be promoted to the Currie Cup regardless of merit?

I know you cannot so shall we just say end of story?

You're missing the point....nobody is saying there is anybody better. We are just saying the Lions brand wont be missed. The fact is all the lower order teams should be cut......Lions, Force that never was.....and Blues. Of these at least the Blues have a distinguished Super history and play attractive rugby, they have a case.

Nonetheless each country should field 4 teams and we should have a shorter competition.

As for the Lions I can't imagine why you care.

i agree mozart. i think in time as they want to include the japanese and arg teams into the super rugby comp they might very well think of having to tiers or super rugby with a promotion up and down system maybe. i cant help but feel that there is now a great divide in terms of the regular title contenders and the bottom of the barrel teams like the force rebels and lions. the lions has a massive problem with depth and need to realy work on sorting out there player stocks. they do not have the quality player depth they require. the cheetahs on the other hand has the least amount of money of all but are always there of there abouts. if they can gain proper financial backing then they will be title contenters for sure.
