the close calls this week are,,,

ben mccalman who is worthy of a mention in the No8s.

andy ellis and agustine pulu for the No9 were very close calls.

ryan crotty was worthy of being the 12, but mccabe hands down was better.

de jong would have made a great No13 for the week, but lionel mapoe was better.
kurindrani was worthy of a mention for 13 too.

wilie le roux would have made a great 15, but mogg was better especially as le roux weakenss in defence came to the fore again with willie missing 50% of his tackles.
the fact he dives like a little bitch also counted heavily against him, pity hes such a drama queen, but thats a saffa trait given that most here believe the onm;y reason their teams are poo is cos of the ref, lolz, :oP

Ben Alexander???  Woodcock was owning him all day and all night at scrum time, including a tighthead.

Ben Alexander is a hopeless prop....lost the Lions series. Likewise I don't think Messam did much on the day. And choosing Mogg, the utterly useless bugger who was a deer in the headlights against NZ ahead of the  of the brilliant Willie is unfathomable. Willie was sensational yesterday.

@shazza,
" Ha, you're a twat. "
says the man who,,,
- cant tell the difference between alberts and greyling, or flip van der mewe and francois louw.
- thinks that halfbacks arent meant to make any tackles in the game
- and that a flyhalfs only job in general play is to get back in the defensive line
- repeatedly changes his story like the bad guy on CSI who changes his story every time the evidence shows him to be a liar

heres the link with the evidence of how much of an R-tard/twat that u are, and unlike ur meh comment its fact, not opinion.

@poi e,

"Ben Alexander???  Woodcock was owning him all day and all night at scrum time, including a tighthead."
scrums arent the only things that props do, and ben alexanders workrate especially around the park was huge.
i recall seeing him in more breakdowns then any other forward which saw him  get the nod from the uchiha clan.

tighthead props were a little light though this week in decent performances, and the blues were so shit that i only watched the game once, but i would love to hear ur thoughts on who was the best tight head, none stood out for me at all except alexander.

 @Sas
Right, but I'd say probably the biggest aspect of a tighthead's play that he'll be measured on is his ability to scrum, you can hit all the rucks you want if you're getting your head rammed up your rear end every scrum set piece I struggle to see how you could make anyone's team of the week, unless you just completely ignore the ability to scrum as a prerequisite for a prop, which  by the looks of things you've done in your assessment.

Sasuke uses Fantasy rugby stats to decide his team of the week. This is why a players core function is not a key requirement in assessing performance.
I have covered this topic extensively in the past with him -in this thread, Pig Head Sasuke, aka Palooka
How is your sink running Palooka?

@ensign in training mozter,

"Ben Alexander is a hopeless prop....lost the Lions series."
with a thread title "rnd 8 spXV team of the week",
i can see how u would think that what happened in a test series last year, would have some bearing here.

"Likewise I don't think Messam did much on the day."
messam was huge for the chiefs, has been all year.
but i will be removing messam from my team of the week as he played No8 which i forgot.

"And choosing Mogg, the utterly useless bugger who was a deer in the headlights against NZ ahead of the  of the brilliant Willie is unfathomable."
its actually embarrassing that i even have to tell u this, but jese mogg didnt play against the All Blacks in the weekend just been, he played against the blues

"Willie was sensational yesterday."
willie was only sensational in attack, he was his shit usual self on defence and players of the week in my teams are judged on their performance as a whole, not by the one thing they excel in or do horribly in.

the second try to the cheetahs was also a joke, as willie le rouxs pass was about 7 meters forward.
to say nothing of the fact that before le roux even got the ball, it was knocked forward by de jager moments earlier.

and last but not least, any rugby player who dives more than didier drogba should be tar and feathered, le roux is the worst F-ing actor/diver in rugby.
it speaks a lot to his character that he continues to slight the best game in the world with such shannegans.

Unfortunately Sushi you just read the tackling stats....Willie misses tackles because he tries to make forcing tackles....he also cuts off the pass and is usually in the right place. Shame did your little numbers not tell you that?

Worst actor/diver in rugby goes to Beale.
Surprise, he's hating on Saffa players. Typical low stuff from a twat.

I also find it a tad confusing how you can holistically evaluate Willie's performance in attack and defence  but give the tighthead berth to Ben Alexander based sole only his work rate around the field, ignoring his scrummaging.

@partitme sharkbok,

"Sasuke uses Fantasy rugby stats to decide his team of the week.

really??? o_O
foxsport team of the week,,,
props - james slipper, tom mcartney,
hooker - deon fourie
locks - james horwil, flip
loosies - ben mccalman , shane chirstie, liam messam
halfback - sarel prestorius
flyhalf - lima sopoaga
center - pat mccabe, ben tapuaii
outside backs - asaeli tikortuma, tim nani williams, lionel mapoe

foxsports team of the week and my team of the week have 9 players that are the same, so once again u have been proven worng.

my selections are mainly based on a visual assessment, with stats to be taken into context.
there are no stats in any of the data bases available which i have encountered which take into account workrate, especially the work forwards do in the tight stuff, and all that plays a part when i make my team of the week.

please stick to things u know, which is F all, but that conundrum is ur problem, not mine, :o)

"I have covered this topic extensively in the past with him -in this thread,"
it pleases me that u posted a link this thread, while i dont think many folks will actually click onto it, i have taken one particluar part of our exchange in that thread which always makes me LMAO, :oD

"how have SA teams been consistently ranked in the top6 and top8 since the Super14."

they have been shit.

top 8 since spXIV
2006 - NZ x 4, SA x 2, OZ x 2
2007 -NZ x 4, SA x 2, OZ x 2
2008 - NZ x 4, SA x 2, OZ x 2
2009 - NZ x 3, SA x 2, OZ x 3
2010 - NZ x 3, SA x 2, OZ x 3
2011 - NZ x 3, SA x 2, OZ x 3
2012 - NZ x 3, SA x 3, OZ x 2
2013 - NZ x 2, SA x 4, OZ x 2

NZ - 26 teams in the top 8
SA - 19 teams in the top 8
OZ - 19 teams in the top 8

top 4 since spXIV
2006 - NZ x 2, SA x 1, OZ x 1
2007 -NZ x 2, SA x 2, OZ x 0
2008 - NZ x 2, SA x 1, OZ x 1
2009 - NZ x 3, SA x 1, OZ x 0
2010 - NZ x 1, SA x 2, OZ x 1
2011 - NZ x 2, SA x 1, OZ x 1
2012 - NZ x 2, SA x 1, OZ x 1
2013 - NZ x 2, SA x 1, OZ x 1

NZ - 16 teams in the top 4
SA - 10 teams in the top 4
OZ -  6 teams in the top 4

wow since spXIV started, NZ have had 16 teams in the top 4, whihc is the same number as SA and OZ combined.

it seems the uchiha clan have underestimated just how powerful the NZ teams truly are.

i have only watched the blues game once ocs its too painful to watch a NZ team play so shit, but the one thing i remember was ben alexanders workrate.

while the scrum is biggest aspect of tighthead play as u say, when i select my teams it reageded in my books as one part of that props play, a part which is of no higher importance to other aspects of his game.
so i didnt ignore the poor scrumming per say, more i didnt let it be the defining outcome of a players all round perforamnce on the feild.

like i said though, there were slim pickings amongst all the teams where the tighthead is concerend, and if u have a better candidate for the No3, i would be more then happy to consider it and change it if the argument is sound like i have in the past.

normally i ask for suggestions when i post these threads, but most times i get views and no comments, lolz, : oP

i like how u make that very sound argument here, but fail to take it into considerstion when analysing the defensive issues of dagg in that other thread u started.
talk about selective application of logic,

but no tackling stats are not what defines my team, visual performance plus all the stats not just tackling stats in a collective whole make up my team.

Pos   T/A Pts K/P/R MR CB DB OL TO Tack LO Pen Y/R FB le Roux 0/1 0 11/14/14 57 1 1 2 1 3/3 0/0 1 0/0
Pos   T/A Pts K/P/R MR CB DB OL TO Tack LO Pen Y/R FB Mogg 0/1 0 13/5/11 70 2 6 2 1 1/0 0/0 0 0/0
on stats alone, mogg more meters despite running with the ball less tmes, he made one more clean break, beat 5 more defenders, missed no tackles and gave away no penalties.
winner mogg.

on visual performance alone, moggs tactical kicking was on a wilkinosn/morne/carter in their prime level accuracy, literally pinning the blues down and deflating any serious threats.
he attacked with the same level of effectivness as le roux despite the conditions, and unlike le roux, his performance was an 80 minute effort.

mogg also didnt flail around like a diva bitch actor which is the one thing le roux does better then play with ball in hand.

i like le rouxs attack and especially his playmaking skills, (though if the officials did their job properly, le roux would nto be so effective).
but being effective for only parts of the game, and his glaring defensive frailties are stuff which count against him.

IMO le roux is better on the wing then at fullback, and i know meyer thought the exact same thing last year.

You get views on a team of the week that you posted on a forum!!??  Someone contact the newspapers!  What did you think would happen?

I was merely trying to understand your rationale for selecting a player so dominated in his primary role.  You've provided that.  If you're looking for an alternative, I thought the 'Saders scrum/pack went well away from home, Owen Franks perhaps.

Sushi you can't even get a positive sentence out about Willie without throwing in a qualifier. As for your stats....Mogg was playing against the pathetic Blues, whereas Willie was up against Champion Chiefs. Hint.....you have to take into account the quality of the opposition.

i love the whack theories saffas have on my take with le roux, in the future i will be a little more sensitive with my remarks regarding, as my opinions hold so much water with the saffa contingent demanding i accept SAs only hope in the backs

i normally post a guidleine in how i make my selections and have stated this many times in the past its only the last few threads of this ongoing thread of mine where i havent posted the guidelines i use as replies have been nonexisitent.

while i didnt need to bore u with that, the short answer is no, the quality of the teams player play against and conditions on the day for that matter have zero bearing on my selections.
it is simply who played better on the day.

if i were to take the quality of opposition into consideration, then the team of the week would be made up of players from the force only, as they played a vastly superior team and actually won, while the players from the chiefs and crusaders would not be eligble.
