Roll on 2018 Super Rugby

The performances of our teams has been atrocious, only Australia is worse.
The skills, game plan and coaching personnel are just not up to standard.
So 2018 should be an improvement- as many of the current batch are not Super Rugby players- and perhaps not even Curry Cup standard. 

Hopefully Coetzee will be sacked as well during the course of this year. 

Apart from Ackerman who is gone, none of our Super Rugby or assistant Bok coaches impress....I don't think they will make a difference. And the last three weeks have clearly demonstrated that the wrong NZ coach, as in the case of the Stormers, won't work either. . We badly need to replace Coetzee.....but I see only one controversial alternative.

At the start of every year we get our hopes up only to see our teams crumble....this year is no different.....and neither will next year. The Stormers continue to shoot themselves in the foot by deploying midgets and an all out helter skelter attack based game at the expense of a decent defence. Hell, it's so sad that even the Kings play a better brand of rugby.....arguably better than the Bulls and Sharks as well.

 The problem remains what Denny says - the midgets selected for all the wrong reasons in the backline.   The Stormers used to have for instance Van Wyk on the wing - but the Stormers preferred to keep Leyds and Kolbe and let him go.   They then got Basson - a Bulls reject - on the wing.
Van Wyk is one of the key players for the Sharks and his absence is why things go so wrong with the Stormers.   
They let Cloete go to the Kings where he is a standout player this year - while their loosies is a farce leaving them in a mess in that component of the game.   I was very impressed with Du Preez - as a flyhalf - but his last two games were disastrous and one can only hope for the return of Du Plessis asap.   
Fools must always suffer and it is only the beginning of the suffering.    

 
Poor decisions haunt those who take them.

One would think that a wise decision was on the cards after Coetzee was sacked ... but instead you went and made another poor decision ... one that can easily surpass your previous one.

The Bulls and Stormers need to take responsibility for the negative knock on effect they're having on SA rugby. The mere fact that the Lions are leading the charge tells us exactly what a poor state our rugby is in.
The clubs with all the money and all the players yet seem to be perpetually "building". The Lions needed one year to build and started showing improvement from year two. The Stormers and Bulls are showing zero. So where is the progress? It's obvious that both those clubs have higher quality personnel than the Lions. So what is the problem?  

The poor coaches, ego driven dressing rooms and terrible administrative performance of these two club are the the primary reasons that SA rugby is in the doldrums. 

 I have spoken about the micros playing for the Stormers for some season now. Its gratifying (and dismaying) that the oaks are only just now catching on. However one must be thankful for small mercies.It is no coincidence these micros are players of colour. The only conclusion is quotas are playing a big part in the current debacle. Adopt merit or perish. So far its all about perishing. Boks have had that buffoon pdv and the very mediocre Coetzee in recent years. L ast competent coach was Jake.
