Blues - Crusaders Game
Definitely the best game thus far this weekend and I think that -
* The Blues forwards were totally in command and they controlled the forward play completely. That put the Crusader backline under pressure and they did not do well at all.
* Carter had an atrocious game by his standards - did really not contribute anything in attack and his kicking game was aimless.
* The Blues has an excellent backline with very strong runners - especially Ranger - and they are going to be big competitordd for the no 1 spot in the NZ Conference.
The Blues win was really impressie and they thoroughly deserve winning the game. If what was produced by the Crusaders was anything to go by for the rest of the season - they should be ranked no 4 or 5 in New Zealand. This was the worst Crusader performance I have ever seen.
Waratahs - Rebels Game
I was very unhappy with what was produced in this game - even though as expected the Waratahs won this game. The game was characterized by sloppy play on both sides with very little constructive play emerging. I would definitely not remember this game for very long.
There were only two really good players today and those were O'Connor and McKiffen - the rest was realy unimpressive. Probably was a waste of time watching this game.
Reds - Hurricanes
This was the weakest performance in a Super 15 game over the last three years. The players cannot tackle - they knock-on balls and compted with each other who could make the silliest mistakes. Definitely not a game for the history books.
Barrett was atrociously poor by all standards and Taylor was worse.
Summary
We had one good match (albeit one-sided) this weekend and two rubbbish ones. Lets hope for better performances tomorrow.
